Thought we could take some time out to celebrate our success in not using Payday Loans.

When was the last time you called in for a PDL? For me its been since early Jan of this year. Around Jan 5 2006.

I know some of us are still dealing with the after effects of our mistakes with varying success and strategies. And thoughts of "How stupid was I?" may have crossed your mind. But how long has it been? That deserves some self praise. Breaking out of the PDL cycle.

it seems like a lot of people here at these forums get tangled in the Pay Day Loan situation and thats what ultimately leads them into "trouble" or gets the ball rolling on accumulating debt.

Ofcourse, PDLs' can be very helpful only if one is extremely sure that he/she can pay off the PDL once the salary cheque clears.

Jessi - Yes I recall when I 1st joined this site back in mid-Jan you had around 9 PDL you were dealing with? You have made a lot of progress.

Point being. We have all had some hardship dealing with this and we have not given in to re-loaning. Every place I have delt with always offers a re-loan after I settle. They want to keep you poor and dependant. Thats ultimately their goal. Keep you comming back.

Jess - Yes it really bothers me that so many people are out there living in the dark with these PDL's believing they have no way out. All the desperation and hopelessness. Last Fall was one of the darkest periods of my life when I was in their grips.

CELEBRATE!!! :)

My last PDL was in April 2005. I went through my old papers and found that I had taken out a total of 19 PDL's (most at the same time but a few were at different times). WOW!! Then I looked at how much money I ended up paying back (and I didn't pay some of them back whom I couldn't get ahold of or who sent me to a shady collector who I refused to pay) and I paid almost $10,000 for PDLs. It makes me sick to think of what I could have used that money for.

I too celebrate deleting the PDL offers I get on a daily basis. I usually get about 50 or so PER DAY while I'm at work and I have such satisfaction in deleting them or requesting to be taken off their email list.

What a wonderful feeling. :)

What a great idea!!!!

I will offically celebrate on the 25th when I turn over my PDLs to T and C and get things straightened out. It was the darkest winter and early spring for me....to have my checks constantly held hostage by those PDLs and the fees.

Jenn, I hear ya. It maks me ill to my stomach when I think of all the things I could have used money for (especially mdical bills and home remodling). Makes you think what a fool you are sometimes, huh? How could I be so stupid? They need to outlaw the PDLS.

Erzeke, I remember that nightmare all too well...I couldn't eat or sleep, I was a nervous wreck. Looking back, i honestly don't understand why I took the first loan in the first place. It really breaks my heart that there are so many people out there feeling that unspeakable defeated feeling....I had six, I only have one left to pay..Wow, I'm so glad it's over.

This is too funny---I love hitting SPAM when I get those stupid PDL offers too. All of my online PDL's are with T&C so I am working on those and my other four are local storefront ones which I am slowly working at paying off. I don't even want to think of the wasted money over the years---its like crying over spilled milk and nothing can be done to get it back. Except never no matter what get into this position again!
