Collection agency with the name - States Recovery

They are going to continue to call your cell. But to get them to stop calling at work I suggest that you tell them to stop. When you do make sure you write the rep's name down and day you asked them to stop.

Should they call back tell tham I told "John Doe on 5/25 to desist contacting me at my place of employment". Make the pretense of taking their name and number down as if you are going to contact them back and then either ask to speak to a supervisor or tll them the next call you are making will be to your lawyer.

The collection agent, by the name of Jack Jordan threatened to have me arrested at work and to garnish my wages. Is that legal for him to say that?

Have you arrested no. Garnish your wages.. that depends on the state laws and if the agency is going to actualy follow through with it. It also depends on the debt if you signed a waiver when taking on whatever it is you now owe.

FYI---They can not call your cell phone if you ask them not to, as then you are paying for the call.

I did actually tell him to stop calling me at work. Then my manager told me that the agent tried to contact a few more people at my workplace and even told them that I owed a debt. So embarrassing...

I asked the agent to send me a letter to validate the debt, but he refused and said that it was validated. I didn't receive anything in the mail. Has anyone heard of this collection agency? I tried to google the company but no results were found.

Most if not all (unless prepaid. Even then some) cell phones have free incoming calls. You would need to prove it is an expense for you to be contacted on the phone.

If you get a good and nice collector they will take the number out or at the least move it out of the dialing system. However many will just ignore it, not notate it and just have the next person call.
