Hi!

The other day I received a phone call on Thursday that I need to call First Financial Asset Management by Friday so that "legal action" isn't taken place. I did not talk to them but was able to send a certified cease phone contact and validation letter. I received my return receipt (green) back from the post office stating that they recieved it. Today, I received a phone call from them telling me to call them back. Did they violate any laws by doing this? I have logged when they called for any future reference. What is my next steps?

Hi

Once you have restricted the collection agency from contacting you over the phone, they must have honored your request and the federal law. In fact, you can prove this violation with the recording of the phone call placed after the date you sent the cease and desist letter. The green copy and the recording will prove the facts.

You have covered your legal base by requesting them for the validation of the debt. Besides, I assume that you have given them the option to contact you through mail only.

You have placed yourself in the legal side and the company has done one violation. However, if they have the debt legitimately, I will insist you to call them once and put your point. Your concern is to pay the debt and you will like to take care of this matter. Be strong and go through the FDCPA laws before calling them.
