So I get to work last night and check my emails from them and there's one that says they overpaid me from two pay periods ago and they are going to deduct that from my next check...to the tune of $900!
They EMAIL me to tell me this on the friday night before pay period ends so I can't do anything about it!
They say "if this will cause a financial hardship, we'll deduct $250 every two weeks til it's paid off, just sign the form and fax it back asap!"
WTF!
I looked over my pay stubs, and they are right. I changed jobs with a pay cut (long story!) and they continued to pay me. I thought this was for my previous job since it was two weeks time....
I sent them a nasty email as well as a fax not authorizing them to take a penny out until someone calls me....
Well, the holiday weekend and everything I'm forced to sit on my hands until monday and pray that someone will answer the phone before they put their payroll through...
This isn't the first time this place has messed up my money...
I have to pay my rent and bills with this next check. I'm soooo tired of this crap, between them and the pdl's I can't seem to get ahead in life...getting verrrry discouraged!
I think a phone call to the Labor Board may be in order next week...

My company does the same thing, but they don't tell you till after they do it, and they don't make any alternate arrangements. I think its pretty crappy they screw up and and expect you to be responsible for it. I believe if they screwup and over pay, they should have to leave it alone and take the loss. may be they will be a little more thorough next time.

I once worked for a company that went back and actually took money out of my account because they over paid me the previous week. It made a check I wrote to them bounce. Luckily the store manager was cool about it when I explained what happened, but it was still a hassle.

Hi E, I am so sorry to hear about the payroll screwup. I'd think they should take the loss or work out some kind of affordable deductions. It sucks that u has to deal with it on the holiday weekend!
