I was supposed to send the T&C a retainer fee which I have not done yet because I have been working with companies whom I defaulted myself. Most of them are cooperative and willing to work out some kind of arrangements. Some of them (Nationwide, CTC, and Rio Resources) were uncooperative but I feel I can take them on with what I have learned around here. Will it be more benefical for me to consolidate the loans with T&C or deal with the lenders myself?
I would like to have your inputs. Thanks!

I think it's a personal situation, if you feel like you can deal with them on your own go for it. I knew with the large number of loans we had that we needed someone to help us (plus we had other things like credit cards also). I know there are people on here that have dealt with them on their own but I really felt like I needed someone to work with us. T&C is not a consolidation company either, they are only a debt management company. I really like having the option of calling them and having them call a creditor so I don't have to myself plus if we dealt with them on our own we would still be getting phone calls but since we are going through T&C they don't call us, they call T&C. It's up to you but I really like the comfort of T&C. Just my opinion.

I agree with Sue. If it waswn't for T&C we would still be way in over our heads. Most of the lenders I had with T&C took lower payments than what they were taking when I was dealing with them on my own. Now I can answer the phone and not worry about who is on the other end, no nasty letters in the mail box anymore. I have had very good luck with T&C.

Sue, I thought T&C was a consolidation company as well. I may be mistaken.
I use them too, but I think I may have gotten the same results from dealing with the pdl's on my own. The only thing I don't care for with T&C is that they've accepted proposals for higher amounts than I'm able to afford from the pdl's, and didn't let me know.
But now that I've been using them, I don't get any phone calls from anyone anymore and just continue to send my payments in.

I think the thing with me is I am deaf and I rely on the relay system and caller id to make calls. The lenders had hard time getting of hold of me and they despised using the relay system. So I am the one to call them and make arrangements. (CTC is vry willing to use CTC and they had to play nice because of third party employed by the federal government interpreting for me....must be why they refusd to disclose some information) My references (my mom and my step mom) were warned in advance about the calls, and they were very good about it. They let me know who called and for some very harrassing collectors, they told them they do not know me. Left them alone since then. My client (I am self employed) were warned as well about the potential calls and she told me that she got a couple already but due to her office policy, she had to let them know that I do not work at the office but off site as an independent contractor. Since then, the calls lessened but I do call them. So in an aspect, I am lucky when it comes to phone calls. I am trying to stay on the top and I am keeping the option of T&C open in case I got way in over my head and need help.
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I can not tell you how many times I really appreciate you all....without you all, I'll be in a deep doo doo.

They are a debt management company, believe me I've heard Jessica tell more than 1 person that more than 1 time. T&C won't accept higher payments without letting you know that I know of so I'm not sure why that happened to you, I would check with them -- it has not happened to me. I like the part about not getting phone calls, that's really nice.
To all that is with T&C. If you have any problems, ask for Jess
To all that is with T&C. If you have any problems, ask for Jessica or Jennifer. They are awesome and they nail the creditor and make them back down to what was agreed upon. They put an end to the problem.
I guess it's just me and my luck that I'm not getting the notice
I guess it's just me and my luck that I'm not getting the notices from T&C. When I call, Jessica's not always available.
in over my head
initially i started out with 2 payday loans after i was already in debt i assumed that this would help me get ahead. After i got 5 payday loans i got lost and started getting others to pay off others to be able to pay other bills other than payday loans now i honestly dont know how many i have although i have paid off 2 those were the ones that were the most cooperative. Saphire..
I did deal with all my payday people on my own, I never used a consolidation company. It was cheaper for me not to.. I had 6 loans, and I was able to work out arrangements with them all. I never had harassing phone calls or any major problems at all. None of my loans were over $300, and I had paid several times over on a few of them, so I did end up getting refunds on 2 of them. Right now things are really going well...I only have 1 left to pay. I even managed to keep my credit score semi-decent.
I do think, though, that if my loans were larger and I hadn't already paid so much on them, I would've benefitted from T&C.

I think I have stated this before on another thread. But in my case not having to personally deal with the creditors and pdl's and letting T&C do it was a much better situation for me. I already had enough stress and drama going on in my life and that would just have added more. So I agree with the others it is a personal decision based on what you think you can handle on your own.
T&C
I have my payday loans with T&C right now. None of them signed or agreed to the paperwork. But, they have no problem taking the money. T&C is sending very small payments. They stretch it out over 2 year span. Now, I find that my loans that are with T&C, I might be due a refund due to my state usury law. So, I am thinking about pulling them out of the program and sending a letter asking for a refund due to me paying so much to them that I now could have paid the loan off twice over. You may want to think about doing this on your own. I pulled out two right after my program started and paid them myself also. If you can do it yourself, I say go for it. At least you will know whats going on. I had to follow up with T&C a couple times a week and thats how I knew that none of my payday loans did not return the paperwork back to T&C. Also, another thing to watch out for is, one of my loans went to a collection agency. I sent T&C the letter and they started to pay the payday loan AND the collection agency. I had to tell them twice that it was the same entity.

Thank you very much Linnie for your input. I am going to try and do it on my own....I am having much success in working out some arrangements with most of the payday lenders. The only ones that were giving me the problems were Nationwide and CTC so far.

Linnie---I have a question for you. My pdls are with T&C also. When you say they send them very small payments do you mean as compared to the amount you owe each lender?
T&C
They are sending about 10 or so dollars a month. They make it a two year program and calculate your payments by 24 months. I just don't have that kind of time anymore to keep sending money. Plus, after my calculations, I have learned that while I am still paying some of my payday loans that are in this program, I have paid them twice over what the loan was worth. So, now I am sending them a letter concerning usury laws and giving them the opportunity to make my account paid in full. Enough is enough if ya know what I mean.
nationwide
I am having problems with nationwide too. I am dealing with them myself. I never gave them to T&C to handle. But, they seem to push the envelope on collection tactics. I got an email that mentions the words, investigated, IP address etc. I really don't like being intimidated. I wonder if I should fax them a usury law letter too or would they give me even more problems? I don't have a problem handing them over to the attorney general, he can bring charges against them without me even being there
Go ahead, quote the usury laws available in your state to nation
Go ahead, quote the usury laws available in your state to nationwide cash. They are not an exception to the law. They must not put you in problems because you are acting as per the state laws. Instead, the company needs to come within the legal collections if they are violating any.
thank you!
I will send them my letter on Monday to my contact in collections. Ya know , I have been wondering something. When they send your account to a collection agency within your state (happpened to me with two) And they represent themselves as attorneys should they not know the law within your state? Why do they pursue a bogus claim? I paid off rio resources because it went to a Norman Kolina attorney and she kept calling me saying "good luck in the proceeding coming up". You would think they would have to abid my the state law if they are an attorney? Was this whole collection thing bogus? I like a dummy paid them in one lump sum
When it comes to collections, most of them think they are above
When it comes to collections, most of them think they are above the law and no one can do anything to them. They think threatening people with jail time and good luck with the proceedings, I am fixing to forward your account to the local courts and etc, will get the money faster. Little do they know that we are aware of our rights now and are ready to fight them with all our might.

I have been dealing with T&C and am so glad I found them. I had like 6 PDL that were over $700 each plus another personal loan that was almost in default. T&C made arrangements with all of them and the phone calls have stopped. Thank the Lord. T&C sent me copies of the signed contracts when I asked for them for my records. Its just been really nice knowing things are taken care of. I'm with Lorri, I don't think I could have handled dealing with these people on my own. Some of them just weren't very nice in general I can't imagine dealing with them to set up payment arrangements.

celticlass4---How long have you been with T&C? I have been with them about a month. I seem to be having a little difficulty getting a timely response from them on different questions I have. Part of the problem might be that they are in a different time zone (they are eastern and I am in pacific). I send emails or faxes when I want to tell them something. How have they corresponded with you? I mean what method?

I think T & C is extremely busy right now due to all the new clients through the forum. Also, there might be delays because they are still waiting to hear back from your creditors. They were a very big help to me because I didn't want to deal with my creditors. If a creditor calls you, contact T &C and they will take care of the situation. They are prompt and courteous.

Lorri, I hace only been with T&C since April. The first month seems to be the hardest. I ended up going way over my cell phone minutes because of keeping in contact with T&C. For me I wanted to keep in touch with them until I was sure all the PDL's had agreed to the program. There seemed to be alot of going back and forth between T&C and the PDL's for awhile, during which time the PDL companies were still contacting me and asking for payment in full. I just kept telling them that I was working with a debt managment program and they could contact T&C with any questions. I havn't heard from any of the companies since the first payment was made to them by T&C. I am feeling so much better about this. As far as contacting T&C I either sent them an email and waited to have someone call me back or I called them and spoke with someone directly. I know they are extremly busy but they have also been extremely helpful. I can relate to the time frame difference as I live in Washington State.

Well, thank you both for your answers about T&C. I am getting up early tomorrow morning so I can call them. The phone cost doesn't bother me cause I have unlimited long distance on my house phone, but having to get up EARLY really makes me crabby  (lol). The last time I spoke with someone at T&C they said that they were very busy and that a lot of their new customers were from this site. But, I have one creditor (Household Bank) who calls all the time. Anyway, thanks again.
