The following information that I am about to tell you is my personal experience with Lawgistix and feel that I have a right to share my story. I am not telling anyone NOT to use their service nor am I saying that if you use this company that you will have the same problems. I just feel that everyone has the right to know MY experience.

I can tell you that I signed up with this company lawgistix in oct of 2005 with 27 accounts filled with promises...fine. here i am, june 2006......received 3 warrants in debt and two letters of arbitration from another creditor. I had to settle my own debt with citibank because this creditor does NOT talk to a third party company. BE CAREFUL...........if you think your going to sign up and they are going to take care of things so you don't get warrant in debts from YOUR courthouse, your very sadly mistaken. I paid in over $1600 which was used for service fees. customer service once you sign up is not real quick to answer you. I had to wait almost three weeks after I received my warrant in debt with citibank before anyone from legal department would help me, then i had to negotiate my own settlement...halfway through all this mess I had dead silence from my rep and had to finish the deal myself!

Are they so overloaded with clients? probably. and i'm not saying NOT to use their services....I'm only telling you my experiences with them. I can not get them to answer me and I just turned it in to the BBB to GET them to answer me. If anyone has a question they may ask me here, and again, this is MY personal experience with them and I'm not telling you NOT to sign up or stop using them, just BE CAREFUL if you do!

PLEASE note: That even if your working with a settlement company the creditors CAN sue you and file charges against you. You CAN receive by mail a "warrant in Debt" and also receive this once it's filed with court by your local sheriff who will come to your front door and post it. I'm not trying to scare the B-Jesus out of you but this is true and factual since I have received TWO of them already and I AM a client of Lawgistix. I do not care what they tell you. They the creditors absolutely CAN do this to you.

It seems more and more since the laws have changed with bankruptcy, more and more people are signing up with these settlement companies and that's great but the credit card companies are getting tougher now! So PLEASE, be careful!

Just replying to bring this back to the top. I'm not trying to start trouble here, please do not think that. I'm trying to really INFORM people of what "REALLY" is going on out there! There are a bunch of very scared people out there that are in a lot of horrible trouble and they need to know who they can rely on.

I Have just been to a bankruptcy attorney and that appears to be the better route because if your credit score is in the 400's because of your debt and charge off's your better just gettting rid of it.

Hi quietsound

I wish I have words to console you. I can understand your mental state of mind. Do you have all papers signed with the company. Your contract with Lawgistix is an important explanation that they were responsible for taking care of your accounts. If they have not been able to abide by their role, why should be held guilty?? The judge will have to make the decisions looking into all aspects. I can see at this point that your settlement company is to be blamed, not you.

Don't feel down! Didn't you do everything that Lawgistix asked you to? Which point proves that you denied your responsibility? Give a thought and use the available facts for filing a case against the company.

I am sad with what happened with you. This can happen with anyone. Thanks for sharing your experience. It makes us a bit careful before trusting anyone with our money.

Thanks for your kind words to me. Unfortunately the contract states that I cannot hold Lawgistix accountable for anything that transpired here. Not for the warrants, not for their lack of service...nothing.

I did file with the better business bureau down there in Fla and I am asking for part if not all of my $1600 that I forked out. Heck, I could use some of that money for settling some of these debts! I stopped making payments to Lawgistix last month and I'm putting the money I would have been sending them into another account. Hopefully I can get out of this mess.

I just felt it very important to inform people and to be very careful who they trust with their money.

I wish I can be of any help to you, quietsound. It's the statement in the contract that made the difference. It was a risky decision by you from the beginning. You never assumed this to happen. Not all settlement companies make you sign mentioning a point like this in the contract. When you hire a company, they are accountable for all customer problems. They can't escape their back with a specific point. We must all know that the contract needs to be read very carefully before signing it. If something is not understood, get it clarified by an attorney for a clear understanding. A single point can make all the difference.

I have to question the legitimacy of the complaint, considering the chosen forum to complain in...complaining about someone elses company in another debt settlement organization's forum? If I were to bad mouth McDonalds in the middle of a Burger King, would you not wonder if I were somehow affiliated with Burger King?

Ironic Irony

I will clarify your point elaborately. Please correct me if I go wrong. This is a forum where we are given the opportunity to discuss our financial issues and find possible solution among the participating members. It doesn't seem right to think that a company offering a public board has issues with other companies that are discussed here. You can discuss about a company that has good reputation in the market. That does not mean this site has good business relation with them. These discussions whether good and bad are solely done by the members and visitors coming from all over the globe and the site offering this forum does not take responsibility of it. You will get your points clarified even better after reading the terms and conditions of this website. I have drawn my inference from here.

Ironic Irony... I specifically asked about Lawgistix as a company and their customer service. I had been conversing with them and I was trying to determine whether or not they were a good, reputable company. So I sincerely appreciate everything that quietsound has told me regarding Lawgistix.

Ironic Irony, this IS a true story. I have nothing to do with this site at all, I'm just a very stupid person who thought they could trust this company to follow through and help me. I am no different than anyone else on this site or any other person in the US who is drowning in debt. I trusted this company to help me. I am in WORSE trouble NOW than I was a year ago. As a matter of fact, in my "welcoming" packet there was a letter that said, sit back, relax as Lawgistix works for you....well I can tell you I am not relaxed at all. In fact I am so upset I'm thinking about running away.

Heard back from the bbb from Lawgistix....

We have no intentions of doing anything for the client. TheY are NOT going to do anything about this, they feel that the $1600 i spent so far justifies sending out DO NOT Call letters! They have no intentions of addressing the problem with their customer service employees.

so, there you have it! Be very leary about this company!!

I have been in same position w/ a company I will not name but the thing that I came to understand after a lot of frustration is, it was all in my contraxct that I signed. It stated that as the Industry changes the company might have to adapte to better assist me and it clearly stated that they can not guarantee that I will not get sued either. After being very frustrated and listening to the rep explain things to me, I understood and am debt free now and my credit is slowly but surely going up. You have to understand the difference between settlement and consolidation. You have to be willing for your credit to get horrible before it can get better and it helps alot if you have assets to liquidate. In the long run it is a lot better than bankruptcy because after all I did obtain all the debt and spent the money and if you do not pay it, to me it is the same as stealing. If they are willing to settle that's great.

Unfortunately my husband did this to us when he had this hairbrain scheme to go into business for himself after he retired and since I'm weak and can't stand up to him, I'm in this mess that he has washed his hands of. So no i didn't get to take a trip or anything. instead i'm left with headaches

Turned in to the BBB......would not resolve problem at all. Very hard to deal with. Lacks customer service support in a timely manner. my complaint comes up at the BBB as "unresolved".

They basically apologized to the BBB about my complaint...that I had no right at all to complain about their company to the BBB.

please check out fully ANY company you decide to handle things for you.

I hope I am not posting this twice. If I have, sorry. We have had nothing but empty promises from Lawgistix.I have had bad feelings about them from the start.
We signed up with them five months ago and NOTHING has been done. You get double talk from them and thats about all you should expect.
They say that there is no way that you will get sued by the CC companies because their lawyers will step in.I seriously doubt that is true.

I want to just try to see what I can do about my cc debt.I think I may have a better chance that way.Otherwise I feel I will definately get sued.It sure as heck looks like that is where it is heading.
They get very upset when you question them (Lawgistix). They are great at first, then you may as well forget getting any answers from them.
Any others out there with problems with this company ?

Sammy,

I "highly" recommend turning them in to the BBB, only because i did and the more people find out about them the better it will be. I have two debt of warrants! so yes you can get them, and they dropped me because i complained. but if your not happy you should report them to the bbb, a few have

Thanks for your reply.I also feel they should be turned in to the BBB.All they do is take your money and as I said, they do absolutely nothing. So after they dropped you,did you have to just take control of your debts yourself ? My wife said that we signed a contract and have to stay with them.I am ready to tell them where to go at this point. It is just the biggest mess. How can companies like this stay in business ?
At first they would get back with you asap, but once they feel that you are reeled in they ignore you.I left numerous messages with in the last 24 hours and they have not returned one call.I think it is time to make a call to the BBB.

Oh My - I can't even believe I am reading these things ! I am (was) a Lawgistix client until today. I have been going through the very same thing as some of you. I enrolled in November and received an Email in May that I was going to have to settle the debt myself. I then contacted the company and asked for my payments to be returned to me. I was actually surprised that I got any response at all but I did. They are refusing to return any money to me also. I promised them that if they did not return my money that I would file a claim with the BBB and the Attorney General. And , that is just what I plan to do.

TURN them IN...if they get enough complaints something will be done about them. I am trying to handle the warrants and all on my own. they did not refund ONE red cent! told me that they sent out letters to the creditors and fielded offers (which i was never told about) and they thought that $1600 that i sent in justified the work they did! You will want to turn them in to ripoffreport.com or do a search on ripoff report and report them there too. I already started a file with them there. The truth of the matter is this...........CREDITORS WILL follow suit, they WILL sue you, they WILL take out a warrant against you and the more trouble you get into, the less you will hear from this company.

Personally I think they are overloaded, I think that they have sooooo many accounts and not enough people and my lawyer told me himself that with this or any settlement company that it all sounds practical and logical to put the money every single month in an account and then settle. The problem though is that NO CREDIT card company is going to wait for you to finish the program.........they are not going to wait years for you to do this. they will WANT their money...once you get one warrant, chances are the rest will follow and you will not have enough money in your accounts to settle. they made it seem like MY fault because I had not enough money in the account to settle accounts! So if you use these people you are best to try to come up with another alternative because waiting for them to get back to you isn't going to be the right thing to do. I wish everyone luck. I just settled three on my own but waited until i absolutely HAD to settle.

Oh, I almost forgot, you guys who have lawgistix, have you listened to their latest phone recording. They NOW expect you to put all your questions and problems in writing and send it to them either by mail or email and that they will answer in a timely manner. Now it's like they are not available to you anymore. I wonder if they are being bombarded with clients calling and calling all the time.

This is just so unreal how companies like Lawgistix can keep getting away with this.I did turn them in to the BBB and I am going to pursue this matter to what ever avenue that I have to take.

A lawyer for a credit card company called last week and said they were going to sue. When I told him I was with Lawgistix and would have them contact him,he told me he has heard of them and he knew that they would do nothing. So it would seem that their reputation is catching up with them.

The unbelieveable part was when I told them about the lawyer calling they said I needed to contact the lawyer and work out a payment plan because I did not turn in the right paper work to them so they would not step in !

It is now impossible to actually talk to anyone at Lawgistix. The last time I did talk to them I told them that I was going to stop the monthly bank draft and they said I would have to talk to someone else at Lawgistix before I could do that.I do not understand that at all.I may just have to close out my bank account and get another account. What a nightmare this has been.I think I may have said that already.

I'm just getting ready to sign up with a debt settlement company, which, from my point of view, seems better than debt consolidation. I had a very bad experience with Genesis Financial (now CareOne) when after a year they just closed up shop in my state and left me high and dry with all my creditors. You can imagine: phones started ringing, interest rates shot up and everything good I had done for over a uear was shot. So I'm a little gun shy about signing another contract and am trying to do careful research. Until I hit this blog, I thought Lawgistix was a great choice, but now I'm questioning it. So, two questions: Does anyone have POSITIVE things to say about Lawgistix? and also, does anyone know of any GOOD debt settlement companies? I'd appreciate the help. My family's getting pretty desperate and we're teetering on bankurptcy. Thanks...

inging,
I too was looking at settlement companies I am the one that first started questioning about Lawgistix. I have heard only bad things about them. The only company that I have found that has a decent reputation was Superior debt relief.
Another option is to call your credit card companies and settle the debt yourself. I have done this and I didn't have to pay the debt settlement companies the hefty fees they are demanding. Whatever your choice is, make sure to thoroughly research the company and be well informed of what your getting into, the risks, and the possible outcomes.

Citibank will try to sue in quick time if you are in default. I am telling you this on my own personal experience. When I asked for my copy of the statement, most of the charges put on it were disputed. I stood strongly against them and got the total corrected. I paid them back with no problems and they are off my back.

I hope no one is offended, sounds like only a few of you are complaining and are not patient enough to settle. 12-36+ months is what it takes. keep putting your money away, I too have been doing my research. Do's and dont's of debt settlement, pros and cons of debt settlement. I have looked up debt settlement companies under many search engines... Google, yahoo, MSN, Iwon, Ask, and a few others... Lawgistix is a sponsored site on on 3 of 5 search engines, I have not chose a company to work with yet but i also have not counted Lawgistix out as a company I would work with. Anything this good has to have some cost and it is guaranteed in wrighting your money back, so keep looking so far if you do look close enough only a few of you are complaining, go ahead and look at some of these other companies check the BBB and look at their complaints. Some companies are pushy I have not experienced that here and sofar Logistix has provided the most information.

Well AA the thing is this. perhaps in the past they were good BEFORE those new bankruptcy laws took into affect.........NOW as it stands, a creditor is NOT going to wait 12 to 36 or even 60 months to settle...

if you owe 10k to one credit card.....it could take you 3 to 5 years to have enough money in your settlement account to pay that. creditors today are NOT going to wait 3 to 5 years to settle. citibank is a good example to use because they DO follow suit and Lawgistix won't even deal with Citibank no more, they make YOU settle it. I know it because I just went through it. Bottom line. CREDITORS are not going to wait years for you to get enough money in your account to settle it. They want their money now, not in a year or two. I was on the program with Lawgistix for 8 months! with the debt load I had, creditors will not willing to wait! People NEED to be informed about this that the creditors of today are changing the way they deal with outstanding debt.

I lost over $1600 to these people

Witchty Woman......I settled with Citibank. I entered it into the program with Lawgistix almost a year ago. They accepted Citibank as one of the creditors they will settle with. However, they decided to sue "me" anyway...I got the warrant in debt in the mail, turned it over to lawgistix who sat on it for three weeks. then was told to settle it myself because citi will not deal with a settlement company, only the debtor. I was able to get Citi to knock down a $1k debt to $450 and I had to do it myself with no help from lawgistix. they still served me with a warrant in debt. this company would not honor anything Lawgistix had to say or offer. I simply explained in writing that because of my credit report and circunstance i could not afford the amount and asked them to accept $450.

I'm not telling anyone NOT to use their services or not to use any...........but I am telling you that most creditors aren't going to wait 12 to 36 months or more for their money.

First off, Lawgistix never claims that you will not get sued. As a matter of fact, it's quite possible that you will get sued at one point or another. For anyone that goes the debt setttlement route, this is a chance you take...whether it's through Lawgisitix or any other debt settlement company. It's a dangerous game, but for some people, the only game we can play. Getting sued is not the end of the world. After getting a 70% best settlement offer from one bank, I received a warrant, went down to the courthouse and settled for 50%. The banks know that these people have little or no money, so they sue in the hope that you will default. Then they own you and your future income. But if you show up in court, they see you are going to put up a fight and you are offered a decent settlement right there.

So don't blame Lawgistix for what should be common sense. We are responsible for our own debt and have to deal with the consequences. But if you use them, keep on them and make sure they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. When you get a chance to settle a debt, do it...and let Lawgistix draw up the documents for you. They'll take a piece, but at least the settlement will be done the right way.

I recently dealt with another company and went through the exact thing. I went to BBB to get them to respond. However, the company agreed to refund my money. I am still in debt after one year. I am no closer to being debt free and actually am further in debt because I had to pay court costs as well. That was just on one card. One was charged off and now I am getting threats they are going to take me to court as well and require me to pay court costs, attorney fees and interest. This is insane. I am trying my hardest to resolve all of these issues. These companies seem to think we are low lifes that rack up debt because we want to. I'm sure we each have our own legitimate reasons for being in debt. Unfortunately, they don't care. It is very sad that companies are preying on desperate individuals. I really don't know what to do at this point. I am looking for a quick fix, but I am TIRED of being ripped off. I guess there is no real good answer. I am just praying I make through day by day and that I get a really good tax return and put it all behind me. If you ever find a "Legitimate" agency, please let me know. I wish you much success with your situation!!

I've been telling people and telling people to be careful, most live in a dream world here giving me excuses that it won't happen to them. fine, they don't want to listen, that's fine. but your right, deeper trouble than when you started. I'm still going through it!

Dear Quietsound:

I am intrigued by your claim against Lawgistix. You obviously are very upset and if this injustice truly were a result of his or her negligence, surely someone would take action. Correct? You stated that you had 27 accounts enrolled with this company. That is an enormous amount of accounts; the balances must be equally enormous. How long did it take you to acquire all of this debt?

You also stated that your husband ???did this to us??? after he had a bad business deal. Did he not have business sense or assistance before the situation escalated? Were all 27 accounts a result of his business venture alone?

I am a prior client of Lawgistix, and while it did take much time and patience, I had great success and still use the after care educational program they provided me. As it takes time to acquire credit/debt, it takes time to settle it. I also had a Citi Account and I am so glad I had Lawgistix to coach me on what to say to them since Citi will not speak to third parties. Do you know the laws of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act or the Credit Repair Organization Act? Lawgisitix knows them thoroughly and did a terrific job of pointing out to me my rights and my options in dealing with the horrendous creditors. Did you know, that it is illegal for a creditor to threaten legal action unless they have the means to litigate? I had no idea, but their staff educated me on my federal rights.

You must realize that the fees you paid were minimal in comparison to the debt you probably had. If you paid $1600 during the 6months you were enrolled, that is $266.00 a month, or $66.00 a week, or $13.00 a day for their employees to try and negotiate your accounts with creditors that are sometimes very abusive. Have you spoken with an angry creditor lately? It is unbelievable the language they use and the threats they make. I'm sure they sent many Cease and Desist letters out to protect you. Know your rights and what to do and say to these people. Lawgisitix can tell you without all the homework you would have to do on your own.

Finally, if someone has 50K in debt, and you want to settle it for 20K, you still have to come up with the 20K. Anyone who is willing to negotiate a deal like that deserves a nice ???thank you??? fee. It is very scary being in such debt and receiving warrants, but remember every time you point your finger at someone else, there are three fingers pointing right back at you.

You sound like a PR rep for Lawgistix, do you work for them, it sure sounds like you do. HOney, i was LIED to by this company....YOU have no idea what I went through with them at all. If your not a rep for the company then bully for you that it worked out. the bottom line is this............IF you have $50k in debt this or any other settlement company NEEDS to explain in detail that in most cases these credit card companies are NOT going to wait for money. Unless you have a low debt amount OR you have a large sum of cash on hand to get rid of this debt to settle it for lower, don't bother on signing up! The company and even their "welcoming" packet......."sit back, relax and let Lawgistix do all the work for you" let me tell you...I have had NO relaxation.....no company is going to wait 5 years for their money..............plain and simple!!

A year ago before I signed up with this company I thought about chap 13 bankruptcy......I wish I had listened to my own intuition...only because I'm far worse off now than I was when I signed up. I paid $450 per month.....waited weeks and weeks to get answers from them regarding debt of warrants i received. was told rudely by them that I have to wait my turn. we are talking THREE WEEKS....when you are handed a warrant in debt, believe me, you don't want to wait three weeks for answers.....they won't even answer the telephones...you have to write in to the company or leave a message with a rep.......no one answers a live phone there. The above post sounds like a testimonal letter to handle "damage" control for the company. Blaming us for being in debt! LOLOLOL! lets face it, if we were not all in debt, we would not all be here and all of these "management companies" settlement co. would be out of business. Yes, I agree, consumers are at fault for using their cards, etc. but the creditors hand them out so easily to people who can't really afford to have them.....this economy doesn't help either. Truth is, no one has ANY money today. We rob peter to pay paul just to survive.

To basically try to say her husband had no business sense is saying the man is stupid........how dare you say that! you have no idea what goes on in someone's life.

For the record, I have heard of many settlement companies that try to "sell" their services and yes they basically fib a little to get the sale. I have heard of many settlement companies including the one mentioned who have taken advantage of the client, who have taken money and don't produce. I'm not saying all of them are that way, but there are lots that do.

Good luck to everyone out there.

I am an officer from Lawgistix replying to your complaint. If this forum is legitimate, then this post shall stand. I know who you are, our office has over three hundred notes on your file.

The first item I wish to point out is that you had 27 accounts. How many readers out there would suppose that you had a serious compulsive problem? At what point, maybe the 10th account, the 20th account, the 25th account, did you feel like you were trying to beat the system? How did you qualify for all of those cards without lying on the credit applications.

You know that you were told of the possibility of a lawsuit, especially with 27 accounts and very little money to settle even one account. We even suggested that you seek bankruptcy and that our program was probably not for you unless you could weather some legal actions. You fail to mention that you were told that verbally AND in your contract.

The second item I wish to point out is that we have one (1) BBB complaint in your category. One complaint in 33,000 accounts! Care to guess who it is? I'll let the readers come to their own conclusions.

Every single day we have clients that complete their program. They are happy, estatic actually, that they are out of debt and firmly on their way to a different life without the burden of credit card debt. My guess is that you, on the other hand, will never learn that experience. I'll lay odds that you will be in this same situation when you are in your 60's and 70's.

John,
You tout this forum as a site to voice complaints about unfair or deceptive business practices. I hope you are truly honest in that you will present both sides of each complaint.

It appears that your website is geared for debt consolidation with limited and unequaled representaion from the debt settlement industry. It also appears that you are generating leads from this site. It seems that a disclosure to that affect would not only be fair, but remove you from the potential liability of tortuous business practices.

It appears that anyone could access this site, and for points that can be transferred into money, slander anyone else. You do not need to prove your complaint, understand the nature of the contract, or present what the client's actions were that lead to her program failure. Would I be equally irresponsible if I NAMED the client in this complaint? It is very tempting, but we would never do it.

I am requesting that you, at a minimum, look at this person's file under a non-disclosure agreement to keep her identity safe. Come to your own conclusions that she was told about the possibility of legal action. If I'm wrong, I will personally admit to the mistreatment of her file and pay triple damages.
