I have received correspondence from some of my payday lenders that have indicated that they are following the threads on this site. They don't call this site out specifically, but do point out that the letters they are receiving are form letters from a particular site. This is telling me that many of us are taking charge of our debt and trying to do something about it. Hurray for us.... :D

I also know first hand that they are watching this board. I wish that I could be as upbeat as the rest of you as for the damage it has caused but I tend to believe that there is a long stream of people going to these places everyday taking our place. I also believe that there is such a thing as Karma though, and that the people who get rich off of the misery of others will have to answer for it one day....

Yeah!
Now that we have the PDL audience, maybe they can start paying attention to laws they must abid by? Maybe they should not do business in states where internet PDL's are forbidden. Maybe one day, all internet PDL's will be illegal and the poor or misforunate will not be prey any longer. Meanwhile, my promise to myself is to educate everyone I can that is now walking the same path I did months ago.

This may have been rude, but I was in Jackson yesterday and I was at the drs. office and a lady was talking with her daughter about getting a payday loan to go on summer vacation. I asked the lady if I could say something, and she stated go ahead and I filled her ears full. I told her that they are a trap, charge high interest and if you couldn't pay it back by the due date that you would have a refinance fee and I knew of people that had lost everything, couldn't put food on the table, pay their rent or utilities. The lady actually told me thank you that she didn't realize what all was at stake with the pdls. I just hope she was serious when she said she wouldn't get a pdl because she didn't want to lose her check to fees.

I hope these people are looking at these boards and realize that we are all here educating one another about our rights as consumers. I find that a lot of businesses will try to take advantage of your if you allow them to. Never again for me. I've learned my lesson and currently working on cleaning up my credit report. Also I do a lot of research as well, here and other websites before I make any financial decisions.

PDLs are feeding off of a lot of people and charging outrageous fees and hit your bank account whenever they find it feasible. Stay away if all possible. They will have your with your hands tied behind your back before you know it and be in more debt than you were before dealing with these companies.

Keep up the good work! I've learned a LOT from this site and will continue to educate myself and stay out of financial troubles.

Tammy - good for you for speaking up and getting involved. I cannot imagine that she was actually talking about getting a pdl for vacation and in front of others. I know that I for one never wanted anyone to know that I was getting pdl's or writing post-dated checks, it was all too embarrassing for me. I agree that we need some kind of group to protest and get the word out. Can you imagine if we could educate 5 people each and so on how fast we could have the US knowing what a horrible service they are providing.

Yes, some companies are watching the boards but I really don't want to get into a lot of detail. I don't know if it's for good reasons or not but they might try to use some of the info against as consumers. I hope some are paying attention and maybe changing their ways but who really knows? I guess I am a big more skeptical because of some of the crap that I've been through lately. Tammy, good job on helping the lady out, she might have not been familar with how easy it is to get caught in the pdl cycle. I hope she takes your words of wisdom to heart. :)
