Okay, I joined about a month ago and recieved a call and email, but I never responded, I think i was in denial, I am also the kind of person who thinks I can do everything on my own and I still thought I could fix my problem. Fortunately I realize thet I need help, I am already in deep enough and I need help before I completely drown. Today is my first day back and I am ready to get the help I need. Unfortunatley I didn't keep the info from the first contact, so now I am going to call the number from this site and finally take the step to feel better. It's almost like AA...Hello my name is ....... and I am a debtaholic!!! haha. Well at least I haven't lost all of my sense of humor. But I must say, when I finally realized how deep I really was, it was so depressing, and of course it made me think of all the other depressing things in my life, my divorce, loneliness, my bills, when I got that D+ in speech and debate in high school!!ha Sorry I get so corny, I do that so I won't cry. It is amazing how low you can get when you are at the bottom. Now I just want to get out. Sorry I rambled, just needed to let out some of the negativity about my financial situation. So, are there any websites with help for the divorced and depressed!!? haha half kidding, half serious

Jen don't feel bad. I think most of us have been in some sort of denial at some point, whether while we're here or prior to finding this place.

What kinds of debt do you have?

And KEEP your sense of humor! You're going to need it. :) It's a long road to fix yourself, but it CAN and will be done. :)

I have 2 department store credit cards that are in a settlement, but I still can't afford those payments, I have 2 small signature loans locally and 4 online payday loans, then there are my student loans, and my regular stuff like rent, car etc... Payments are late, people are calling and I only have a cell phone so I don't hardly answer it and check the messages at night and then delete them. Sometimes just wishing it would all go away, but unless I do something about it, it won't go away and I don't want it to get worse, I can't handle life as it is. Would love to get out of here all together, no bills, no ex husband, no meddling mother!! Could go down to Mexico and teach my kids to like refried beans and sell little blankets on the road!!haha Everybody trying to get out of Mexico, and I would be trying to get in!!ha

Jentalks,

Don't feel bad...I am in a similar boat with you. I signed up last fall after falling victim to a scam and never followed up with the first contact (I think it was that leftover bad taste). Now I have finally come to my senses--I can't do it alone--and need to contact debt consolidation care again also. Don't give up...You're not alone. There is hope out there for us.

AJ

Jen---Humor can be a defense mechanism and you are trying to keep from completely losing it and you do it by laughing. I have always done the same thing.

Try as you might you cannot wish your problems away. This is your life---pull yourself up by the bootstraps and get in contact with the debt counselor again. You must do this if you are to have any piece of mind about your financial situation. Solve your problems one day at a time (you said it was like AA), once you get one taken care of and aren't worrying, then it will be easier to deal with the next issue.

We have all been there or are still in the process of getting our financial life back in order. We are surviving and no one has cracked up yet :), so see it is do-able.

Keep us posted and participate in the forums and I can guarantee you will begin to feel better.
