Both mine and hubby's laptops were hacked into Monday night and when we booted them up last night, nothing would open and it kept revealing someone elses IP address from Nevada and files were being transferred to the others computer. We called our dsl provider to find out what to do, and they requested the IP address are doing a trace and as soon as they have a match they will contact us with further information. I think it is funny that the pdls are watching, the computers get hacked into, and the Ip address shows Nevada. I think it might just be a coincidence, but I am leary now. Do you think I am seeing to much into this? Could it be possible that they actually have our IP addresses and are going into peoples systems and retrieving information? Any info would be appreciated.

It would be very difficult for a PDL company to hack your computer. Are you sure that the email you received was actually from your PDL lender or an imposter email that you would recognize and open. Unless the company you are dealing with a complete fraud then your PDL lender is not hacking your computer.

We have black ice firewall. It seems strange that I have been having alot of trouble with my desk top crashing and now the laptops are affected. It just seems real strange.

linnie,

Do you have any spyware scans on your computer? If so, run them. If not, your only other option that I know of is to reformat your computer. I am becoming an expert at reformating because of my desktop.

Yes, I loaded spyware but it is not finding the path of where it is hiding. I know it is still there because I receive the warning messages that I have a terminal error, my pc will shut down in......spyware has been detected.

Just to clarify, I was only stating what happend to me, Just a coincedence? who knows. Maybe the crash is due to another reason. just weird that is happened when I opened the email.

The only way you can get a virus from an email is if they sent you something you would need to download, and if you download it, that can spread a virus, but if you only open the email, and don't download anything, it can't give you a virus. Or, if you download something from a virus infested website. Typically these are**** sites or gaming sites, and sometimes, clicking on strange ads like "you've won..." can download things onto your computer.

Payday loans are necessary for some people but the most horrible loans offered to people with already bad credit. I think Tony Soprano offers cheaper rates on loans. Stay away from them if you can. I dealt with one from Grenada and they debited my checking account without notifying me, thank God there were funds in there but it caused me to take other loans to make my other bills.

I just joined CCCS to manage my credit debt, they are wonderful to work with. The calls stopped and most creditors were happy to work with them. Do what you can to avoid the PDLs, call a debt counselor, most will help for free. My situation is getting better after a huge job loss last year. It is o.k. to ask for help and there are programs out there and people that care. In a society that prides on what you own too many people are suffering with mounds of debt. Our generation will have nothing for retirement, what a shame when we are so successful.

It is a shame that you can't trust anyone any more. My sister will not order anything via the internet. She is a veteran and her personal info. was violated recently in that BIG scam. PDLs are supposed to be there for folks that need help but I am not surprised to learn that some are scammers. GOOD LUCK!

I am an IT pro and this thread a bit confusing. Since you were the one that traced the IP address to Nevada can you tell us how you found it when you couldn't open anything on your computer? Can you share the IP with us? How did your ISP do the ???trace???? Unless the PDL company and you have the same ISP, or the IP came back to a known PDL company's server (go to WHOIS), there is no way for your ISP to know who that belongs to. Either way, can you tell us what the IP was? If you share, we can configure our firewalls to block all traffic from it, if they are foolish enough to commit a federal offence from their own office computers again.

Im a system admin for a KC area data processing company, so of course your IP post caust my eye. I was going to become a memeber and post some questions, but Im not sure I want to be apart of this community now. Sorry I upset you Tammy, but in my 12 years in the business, I have never heard of any 1/2 way competent hacker caught so easily. Take care all, and good luck.
