My car finance company talked to my family and neighbors while I was out of town. He told them he was a car finance company, He asked them where my car was, If I had given them money to pay bills and he asked for my address. He asked my neighbors if they had seen my car in my driveway and if they had seen us driving the car in the nieghborhood. My husband and I are both military and had been out of town on military orders. Is this lawful.

this is not lawful...well its not AGAINST the law to do that but

this action he is doing screams "sue me" all over it.
get in touch with a lawyer and see what the lawyer says. if there is no case, then jost go to the company where he works and talk to him straight or to his superiors.
what he is doing is quite pathetic.

Repo's can "stake out" your car. They should not share your personal affairs but can ask simple questions. But this guy is just asking for trouble. He needs a lesson on how to act like a human being
