How does one go about trying to settle the debt with creditors in the first place what steps should I take I currently and not late but will be soon, My debt is basically credit card and was used for medical for now I wish I had not done, There are so many programs out there but I also hear of a great deal that are scams and dont want to fall into that How to find one that is reputable?
I had one call me yesterday called Fresh Start and I have not heard of them before now I owe like just shy of $5000 in CC debt, They told me I would have to stop paying them and let them become delinquent and then they would work with the creditors to settle the account right before they go to collections?
Also was going to meet with an attorney to file Chapter 13 or see what my options are there but the cost is so high normally

What is T & C?

Hi and welcome! I strongly encourage you to register with this site and someone will call you to discuss your situation. They can recommend some options to help you out. Also, stay active on this board and you'll get some great, free, advice from people are are in the same situation as you and from those who were and have worked their way out of it.
I do recommend that you not even consider settlement if your unsecured debt is less than $5,000 - try working with a company who will consolidate your payments and negotiate a reduction in apr on your cards before looking into settlement.

Go - register - and welcome :)

You might find someone in the customer care in the working hours. Leave a message at the voicemail for them to call you back. When did you register with this site? Log in with your email address and password at the forums so that we know you better.

What is the total amount of debt you have? Consolidation and settlement programs have their own individual approach. It works depending upon the total amount of debt and the payment structure set with your creditors. Know the procedures how a consolidation and a settlement program work.
