I had a VERY bad year last year. One of my parents were terminally ill. They live in northern Illinois, I live in South Floriday. I was traveling back and forth for several months until the agony for her was over. And then, Hurricane Wilma decided to wipe her a path thru South Florida, yet causing more chaos in my life (as well as causing many others chaos..definitely not alone  )
In that time, I got caught in the whirlpool of Payday loans. Ended up having about 14 of them. HOW? I have no idea how this was allowed. I know this was my mistake, but why do they make this so easy to get sooo much in the hole like I did?
Anyway, I took the services of a debt solutions company down here in South Florida and put most of them on the plan. As many as I could afford. I currently have about 4 that are not on the plan and I believe they have either stopped pursuing(since most of the calls have stopped) OR planning their next line of strategy. I'm certainly not running away from the debt. I've even considered putting the last of them on the plan as the others get paid off. After reading many of these threads and discovering what my rights are and what these companies have no right to do, I've discovered that I have probably 'overpaid' some of these companies. Certainly ot going to try and get a refund, just leave well enough alone for now.
The point of my email is...it is because of this site and the links it leads you to that I have now thought twice about paying the rest of these if I do not legally have to. Of course, I intend to research it more to make sure my findings are justified and are legally feasible.
FINALLY, a website to come to with questions regarding this issue.

Welcome! This website is more than answers to questions... I have found it's a peice of mind as well. It's comforting knowing that we're not alone in this mess of debt. It's so great to come to this site and talk to those going through the same things and get their advice and also to give it! We hope you stick around for a while and contribute to the postings.

Payday loans are not a financial relief as thought in the beginning. It is only after taking it and realizing the excessive charges tucked with it, we cry out in pain. It is for those only who have enough cash in their vault and keep rolling their money. Most of us go through financial mess and consider these payday loans to be of great help. We are wrong with that thought!! You are doing the right thing by deciding to pay off the remaining ones. It will be a relief to be at the other side of the debt free world. This site is full of useful information. Read some of the articles to know your perfect debt solution and get the immediate debt help. You are not alone, we will hold you along towards a better life we all are aspiring.

hrm7468---First off---my condolences on the passing of your mom. It must have felt like your world crashed in with everything combined.

It is a great feeling to be able to have this site as some place to be able to vent and discuss and learn, isn't it?. Since I came to this site at a very low point in my life, I can relate to your situation in a big way. As far as trying to get a refund, don't discount that completely. When it was first suggested to me, I thought no forget it. But, all I did was send a letter to the operating illegally companies and I got a refund from one. I understand that sometimes it is just easier to one thing and not worry about stuff like refunds.

One thing about this site---everybody seems to have fallen into the PDL racket, so if you have concerns or questions just ask--somebody always knows the answer. Please keep us posted!

To Lorri -- What kind of letter did you send? If you would like to pm me the info.
Thank you all for your condolences. Yeah, the whole world did come crashing but picked up pretty quick. Certain times in our lives we have the chain of events (not just one event) that can either bring us crashing down or lift us up into the clouds. Guess that's the life cycle, hah.
Does anyone have an address for paychecktoday.com? I have a phone # but it's says no longer valid.
Thank you all again for your responses.
Have a great day!

The maximum amount of loan advanced in Arkansas is $400 for a period of 6-31 days. The permissible fee is $10 fee + $5 origination fee + 10%.

I live in Arkansas and have had several loans written off after sending the letter asking for my account to be marked paid in full. I am also requesting refunds from 3 lenders; one has agreed to the refund. Still waiting to hear from the other 2.
