Welcome to the forum! That actually depends on what state you are in. For instance, pdls are illegal in the state of North Carolina. What state are you in?

Kenthia, check the laws of your state for the permissible interest rates and fees. No lender should charge beyond the fixed legal rates. You need to get a statement from Zip Cash and find out how a $250 loan reached to a total of $425.

I also just got a call from a company named Global something and the guy was very nasty. He says he represents Cashneta and someone. He also threatened me with taking my paycheck if I don't open another account so that they can get their funds. I owe this company $65 and am willing to pay them if I could get a statement of my account. I know I have overpaid according to the things I have been reading in the forum. He would not cooperate. I asked for an address so that I could send a money order and he refused. I wanted to quote the laws of my state, but I don't quite understand them, so I got a little tongue-tied (although he couldn't tell, because I remained calm). I also told him he was on a recorded line and he became furious and the phone started making funny sounds and he was off the line. What do you make of this?? Did I handle it right? Actually I have a few PDLs that I will have to handle. I just went into default.

Kenthia, were you contacted by a collection agency representing CashNet? If yes, they are bound to follow the DOV laws. If you can find out the name of the company, I will try to locate their address.

I think he said he was from Global Enterprise. The PDLs he was representing are Cashnet500.net and FastCash-Advance.com. But I really think he was in-house because he wouldn't give me any information on how to pay by money order. He wanted me to open a new account and give him my new account information. I kept asking for an address to pay off my loan, but he refused. I'm not familiar with the abbreviations for the different laws for my state of Indiana, but what is DOV law? Wasn't I right to ask for a statement of my accounts?

Even if the company is using in house collections, they still need to validate the debt in writing. Don't give out your bank information unless you are sure about their legitimate collections. Talk to the original company and see if you are able to work out arrangements with them.

I would not give out your new banking information to them. They might try to take more than what you actually owe. If you check their website, you can get their address that way. It's the cashnet website that you probably got the loan through in the first place. I think Global and Cashnet are the same company. They do not have a satisfactory record with the BBB.
