Hey everyone,
My boyfriend works for Verizon Wireless, and told me about this new feature, in effect today, that allows you to send text messages to LANDLINE phones for FREE!

Now, this is really cool...but can you imagin those PDLs that already HARASS us through text, AIM, etc...they will now be able to send "text messages" to our home and work phones! When the landline phone rings, it says a little "you have received a text..." recording, then says the text message verbally into the phone.

Just FYI though...I tried it to my office phone, and my cell phone received a message back stating that that landline was not receiving texts...so maybe they won't be able to get through to your work phone either!

Anyway...just though this was interesting!

once I am working with t &c will they still be calling me. I signed up with them, I just need to come up with the $ 155

From Vtext.com (verizon's text messaging website)
Quote:

Q: What is the cost to send a Text to Landline message?

Through June 30, 2006 you will be charged only your normal text message rate for successfully delivered Text to Landline messages. Beginning July 1, 2006 you will be charged a premium charge of $0.25 per message for successfully delivered Text to Landline messages. Your account will not be charged the premium amount if the recorded Text to Landline message is not successfully delivered to a person or if it is not successfully delivered to an answering machine. Unless otherwise indicated in the message header, all other text messages (except the initial opt-in message and your reply to the opt-in message) are billed per your Calling Plan or TXT Messaging subscription.
