For at least 3 weeks, every night I get a phone call from a "unknown name and number." I don't answer these calls. But they leave a message telling me that I should call allied interstate at an 866 number for a matter "of interest." Tonight I finally called them back to basically give them what-for. What happened was that I called, got put on hold, hold, hold, hold, hold, hold, hold, click, click, hung up on.

As best I know, I do not have any outstanding debts. I suspect that someone is raking in money for use of their phone lines.

Any ideas?

Pepper, go through the various threads in this forum compiled at the link below. Everything will be clear in front of you. allied interstate may be having the wrong contact if you owe nothing. Ask them to verify your information. If it doesn't match, get your name removed from their system.

Thank you, I will look through the material. Update: I answered the phone when they called; you still don't get a person but a recorded message instructing you to call them. Then if you try, you get put on hold and hung up on. Strange

I have been receiving calls from Academy Collection Agency and just tonite received a call from the above number at 9:45pm! I have been harassed by Academy and now i was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me who this possibly is. I didn't talk to this person as i have had it with these collection agencies.

Dee,

If Academy Collections has the genuine details of your debt account from your creditors, call them and ask for debt validation. Don't avoid the calls. Confirm their purpose before sending any money. Do you know the name of the credit company they are collecting for? If yes, you can work out arrangements with them directly.
