Am I too far gone?

I currently only have 2 major credit cards. The majority of the balances on each has come from using them to pay my bills. I finished my bachelor's in 2002, and a couple of months afterwards decided to switch careers and go to massage school. Once I graduated from massage school I faced the task of finding a job that would supply me with a steady income. Needless to say that did not happen. $20,000 dollars in credit card debt later my back is against the wall, and I'm trying to keep my head above water. Is debt consolidation even an option for me at this point? Any advice and information is greatly appreciated.


Wannie-welcome to the forums :D I hope you also signed up for the free credit counseling when you became a member. If so,someone will be contacting you shortly. Please feel free to browse the many topics in the forums. You will find others in the same boat,or have been,and what they are doing today to get their finances settled.It's never too late or too much.I found out I got myself into debt,out of necessity sometimes, and it is going to take a while to get out,but it will happen.Try not to get too overwhelmed,there is help and hope!...Karen

You are never too far gone in this forum. Have you checked with your massage school regarding any positions available they may know of. Are you working at all? Try temp work for some fast money if you are up against it. Remember your debts didn't increase overnight, so it will take some time to begin erasing them. Good luck!

Thanks Lorri. I currently am employed, I've returned back to an office environment for something more stable and reliable. I received 2 phone calls today regarding some settlement companies. Now I just have to research some more and go from there. It's comforting to know that people are experiencing what I am and that we are all human.
