My mother received a call from someone at Nationwide Credit. He apparently pulled her credit report and named two credit cards she could use to pay him and his company. I called and spoke with the receptionist requesting the address and this is what she gave me:

Nationwide Credit Inc.
2015 Vaughn Road
Building 400
Kennesaw, Georgia 30144

First, is this a legitimate address for this company? I want to send a debt validation letter and request that communications be in writing only for this company, but the way the "receptionist" was hemming and hawing when she gave me the address (plus having to "check on the account" first before she'd give me the address), I'm suspicious. The address she gave me is in Georgia, but she admitted that she is in California!

If anyone has any information on Nationwide Credit, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Lisa

Here are other addresses including the one she gave you. That one is to their HQ.

I doubt the lady in the collection office is making legitimate collections. Do not send anything unless you have the written proof of the debt account. She will insist you and your mother to send money using other scare tactics. Per the federal laws, the CA must send the details in writing within 5 business days after placing the first call. If they continue with their illegal collections, report them to the FTC and the state attorney general's office.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR REPLIES! This is really helpful, but now I'm unsure where to send the letter requesting debt validation. Should I use the headquarters address that the receptionist gave me, or the California address where I suspect the collector called from? Or does it matter?

It appears that Nationwide Credit has sent my mom a registered letter. She wasn't home today when it came, so she's going to pick it up at the post office tomorrow. After reading this message board, I am prepared for the worst. She has terrible high blood pressure, and I'm really concerned that dealing with debt collectors at her age is going to be highly detrimental. I'm trying to help however I can. I wish I had a lot of money to bail her and my dad out of all of these money problems!

Thanks again for answering my previous question. If there's a preferred address I should use, please suggest...

In my experience, after you send them a DV, Nationwide (aka "NCI") sends you a partial printout of the alleged account from the OC. In our case, we sent them a C&D because they failed to include the entire account, including the specific costs in calculating the amount NCI said we owed.

They may have met the minimum requirements for debt validation, but they certainly didn't prove we owe what they claim we do.

Nationwide is a legit company. I worked for them April 2008 to June 2009 before they laid us off and sent business to India because oglf the recession. I was working at the GA branch. Now it is true that our systems actually generated the initial demand letter on it's on and we couldn't contact the person until that letter was sent out. If you didn't recieve that letter then simply request it and verify the address on file or provide your address. Also, a method used to verify if we have the right person is to verify the last four of the social security number ONLY. If that matches your mother then obviously they have the right person. To comment on the post that said "they couldn't validate the debt was something we owed" if the debt has your social on it then yes you owe it and it's YOUR job to fix it if there is a case of identity theft. It's not the agencies job to fix it their job is to collect the money so don't neglect the issue just because you got a call saying you owe a bill to T-Mobile and you never had a cell phone with T-Mobile. Check the social. One thing I noticed though is that you said the debt is your mothers? Ok now I don't remember the laws but in certain states they have laws where you can and CANT talk to the spouse, guardian, etc only. Being that your the DAUGHTER the rep isn't allowed to disclose your mothers information without your mothers permission unless you are handling her affairs because of her age in which you would have to fax over power of attorney aka POA. It's called 3rd party disclosure and they broke that rule. You can actually bring a lawsuit against them for doing that in which they end up paying the debt for you and giving you a little extra cash to keep it out of court.

let me show the cracks in your post.

1)if you send people anyhthing their social isn't on it.
2)when people call withh a reference# you always ask for their social why?shouldn't you already have it.
3)the top two are just for informational purposes as you neve send anything.
4)i love the fact you keep droning on about the social when people just need to check their credit report.if they had a T-MOBILE account it will show on their.
5)as far as faxing anything the only info provided about that is on this site and others like it.you sure never give anyone that info.

to summrize there is nothing legit about this bottomfeeder that you worked for.they deserve nothing without thorough documentation.which i might add they are required by law to provide.
