I just received a very harassing phone call from an Amanda Snow stating that I had until 12pm today to pay the payday loan from United Cash that was taken out inJanuary, 2006 and I supposedly had not paid any of. She stated this was internet fraud, bank fraud and check fraud. When I wanted validation and an address or email address she proceeded to tell me that I had unntil noon and the paperwork was ready to be filed. After I repeated that I wanted verifaction and hung up she called again and I left this go to my voice mail on the voice mail she proceeded to tell me how I had until noon to pay this or papers would be filed and they would contact my employer, relatives and neighbors. s this legal? What should I do? Help!

Very illegal, they are required to validate the debt when you ask for it. They don't have papers that they will filing against you. You should save that voicemail and file a complaint with your attorney general and the Federal Trade Commision. They are also not allowed to share your personal situation with anybody, family, work..etc.

Keep a note of the phone calls made to you along with date and time. Also, you must make sure to check the laws of your state before doing the phone call recording. Some states allow the recording to be done secretly while a few don't. If you are unaware of the laws and do the recording, they will hold the point against you. Which state are you living in? You can verify the information with your AG's office and know if the recording can be done secretly or you have to take permission of both the parties.

i got contacted on Thursday July 20, 2006 about the same company you described on Wed Jun 28, 2006 5:36 am. Except it was a guy sayin i owed 580.00 to United Cash Loans and that they were takin me to court. i've looked into it on BBB. They have several people who filed on them and nothing has come of it. What do i do? And the worse part is that i'm in the air force.

First of all, United Cash Loans will not take you to court. UCL has violated several state laws and are not licensed to lend in any state, and are being investigated in several states. Do not pay a dime til you get validation of the debt. The online pdl industry is getting very famous for threats of arrest, check fraud, etc.
