I received a call this morning from United Pay Services regarding a loan with E-Payday. The caller was stating that if Payment was not received today, legal action would be taken and I would be arrested at work for writng a worthless check. I called them back and asked for a faxed copy of a breakdown of all the charges incurred and was told that that could not be done until payment was received. I don't want to be arrested but I don't want to pay $500.00 in extra charges either for a loan that has been paid on time until last week when my bank started blocking ACH debits due to ongoing withdrawls. I am dealing with other PDL companies who have been OK with payment plans but this one is a little freaky. Do I pay the full amount? Has anyone else dealt with this collections company?

The collection agency is required to validate the debt in writing. They can't escape from this federal law. They need to clearly identify the loan company for which they are collecting. Along with it, the total breakdown of the interest charges with the principal amount should be given on request. If they say, it is not required to give in writing, this means they are lying. Don't pay anything until the CA puts the facts properly. In the meantime, you can contact the original loan company and explain your problems while dealing with this CA. If they are willing to work with you, you can make direct payments to them.

The original loan is with E-Payday. The website does not load completely and I have no phone number for them. Thank you for the feedback, I am attempting to dig out of a PDL nightmare...

United Pay Services also called me, they seem to threaten everyone, in which is illegal. Their tactics are the same as the ones of Prelitigations (United Federal Bank). I'm beginning to think that they are the same people. DO NOT give them anything until they validate the debt in writing. Or deal with the original creditor to make payment arrangements. I have looked for a number for E-Payday, but I have not had any luck yet. If I find anything I'll post it for you.

I got another call from United this morning, I stated that since they were not willing to send me any documentation and since they are apparently not licensed to do business in WI. I was unwilling to work with them. I was transferred to three different people with the last one telling me to never call them again. I then called the original lender and am in the process of having my account removed from United and can make arrangements with E-Payday. Thanks for the assistance, We are on our way to paying off all our lenders.

They are a scam! Several idiots, with thick accents trying to intimidate you into sending them money. They use the number: 732-231-6372 from New Jersey, state they are calling from Florida. If you have their pay day loan....KEEP IT!They are too stupid to collect it.

I am also dealing with this nightmare but my account came from arrowhead investments I only borrowed 200.00 but United Pay is now stating that I owe over $800.00 and by tommorrow I will owe at least 1600.00. Is this legal? I am in Ohio and I do plan on calling my attorney general's office, BBB, and also Federal trade commission, but they have talked to my supervisor at work, and I am afraid I am going to lose my job. Any advice??

Send them a debt validation letter along with a cease and desist letter. Remember to send the letters via certified mail with a return receipt. If they do not respond within 30 days of initial contact then they are not allowed to take any legal action against you. Cease and desist letter is the best option to stop the collection agencies making any telephonic contact at your home or at your place of employment. C&D letter is the best way to stop the collectors contact you over the phone. After they receive the letter they are supposed to make all the future communications in writing.

I received the same type of call today, and each time I hung up on the caller, they would call back with a stronger threat. I was told that I would be arrested at work or by the end of the day at my home in front of my children if I did not pay within 15 minutes. I had a good record with these folks, and had to close my checking account due to fraud on my checking account. As a previous writer stated, I could not find a phone number to call them and advise of the situation. The caller accused me of bank fraud even though I have a fraud case number on my bank account. I was so terrified of this man, my father agreed to pay the $800 for me. Isn't this kind of tactic illegal? And can anything be done?

I have dealt with these people. you need to file complaints with the Fl AG and your sates AG and DFI also with the FTC. I did. And once my state got involved they stopped calling also they like to call before 8am. So you need to nail them on that also. DO NOT send them any money. And most of all do not send them money through western union or money gram. Tell them NOT to call your employer, they really like to do that. They will even tell the person who answers the phone where you work that you will be arrested also. They will call them and you 20 million times a day. So when you get another call from them insist that you get something in writing and to further contact you through the mail, no more phone calls. They are out of Jacksonville FL, at least they have a so called office there, but they are located over seas. And they will tell you that they don't have to follow the laws here. Just google united pay services and read all of the previous posts about them. Try and get in contact with the original creditor to make payments with them but it mayt be too late because usually I-collect will buy defaulted payday loans and send them to united or some other places just like united. But they also go by the name of united processing. So if you file complaints make sure you add that d/b/a on the complaint.

I went to our local police department with this complaint, as they were harrasing me at my job and home. Same thing, going to jail, need to pay immediately. The police called them several times while I was sitting there, only to be called stupid, that they were not police, that police have 3 numbers in a badge number, not 2. Our local police department is calling the Federal Marshalls in on this one. They will soon be put out of commission!

I got a call from United this morning. He was YELLING at me from the beginning while I'm at work. He said he'll send some police officers to arrest me. So I said I'll call you back since I'm at work and I can't talk in front of my coworkers. Then he yelled "did i give you permission to make demands?" "You can't do anything unless I tell you to". I was shocked. He said I had to pay $800 for a $300 loan outstanding or I'll get arrested today. Then he put me on hold while I did Western Union transaction online. Checking back every 2 minutes asking "are you done" I was terrified of this man. I asked to speak to someone else since all he did was yell at me but he said "do you think I want to talk to you? I just want you in jail" I made $400 payment today and my other $400 is due in couple days. Do I have to deal with these peopel and keep paying? Or can I get out of it somehow?

I was able to find the phone number of the original creditor, FTR Processing, using this website. I called FTR and explained to them that United called me yesterday with the representative yelling at me, making threats of arrest and calling me at work. I told them that I was terrified of this man frm United and unfortunately, I had to give them $400 to get him off the phone and not call my coworkers. FTR was very apologetic and said that they sold my loan to United. He said all the threats United made were empty threats and they've violated many laws. They said I should have hung up the phone with him as soon as he started yelling and just call them instead to work it out. Unfortunately, the $400 I paid United is wasted but I was able to arrange a nice payment plan with FTR. FTR sent United a cease and desist letter on my behalf to stop all of their calls. DEAL WITH THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR. FTR was apologetic that their name was entangled with United and left bad taste in my mouth.....

my daughter has recieved 2 calls so far from this company. They were of the same type of call that the previous responses experienced. my concern, other than the obvious, is that my daughter insists that she has not had a pay day loan with any company. her bank has allowed 3 different pay day loan companies to attempt to debit her accout several times over the last 2 months on two different checking accts to the tune of over 2000.00 in overdraft charges. she ahs recently moved and the checking acct statements had not shown up for over a month. we wonder if someone got ahold of them. we are not only going to be battling the debit collection company but we are gong to have to prove fraud on the part of the pay day oan companies or prove that soeone else took out the loan. the person who called my daughter said his name was kevin peterson from florida. he also insisted she send money asap or she would be arrested amongst other threats. he called again today at her work as before, and said that he has spoken to her supervisor and she no longer has a job and they were going to sue her. has anyone else delt with this and found that they there was fradulant activity on the part of the pay day loan company.

Do not pay them shyredneck. Also they cannot have you arrested, as has been stated before. Try to explain to your boss the situation. Next time united pay calls you tell them they are not allowed to call you at work. If they continue to they are breaking the law. They are also breaking the law by saying you can be arrested.

Ask them for debt validation and send them a cease and desist letter. There are examples on this website. Also see if their is a consumer attorney in your area, you can sue United Pay for what they are doing. If allowed, tape their phone calls also and tell United Pay you are taping them.

In my opinion you should send them a debt validation letter. Under the Federal law, you are entitled to ask a debt collector to validate the debt and the collector HAS to validate it. If he/she does not validate it, then its a violation of fdcpa. A debt collector must be able to prove that he/she owns the debt legally and is authorized to collect it from you. And the total amount of the debt that he/she is claiming from you is accounted for and is documented by your original creditor. A collector must be able to provide a copy of the original legal contract that you signed with your creditor.

I hope it was useful

Good luck
Nelly

I too received a very scary call from what they said was United Pay Services in regards to an Arrowhead Loan. He gave me my address both at home and at work, referred to himself as an officer of the law and told me he would come arrest me at my job or work. He said it would happen that day. Scared I sent $200 Money Gram to Receive Code: 5056 in Jacksonville, Fl.
I am afraid I sent money to a scam artist. The phone calls continued. So, I decided to do Debt Mgmt. The company asked me to get my Acct number and their address. I called "United Pay Services" who repeatedly asked for my name and SSN. Then rambled off the address in Jacksonville. He was not from this country and had a STRONG India accent. I asked him to spell the address, he said he would not. He said he would disconnect the call if I didn't want to write down the address! I wrote what I thought he said which was 9378 Ellenton Expressway, Jacksonville, Fl 32225. Then he said " Come here, I will slap you in your face"! Is this not ILLEGAL?
Is anyone interested in pressing charges other than myself?
I am so mad. I wired that money, so mad I have been harrased in that way!!!!

They told me that I needed to do the same thing, I haven't as yet. I've been talking to some people and their telling me not to send these people any money because it's not legal. I'm sorry that you lost out of $200.00. They would call me at my job, which I was also told that their not suppose to do this. I think that this is a real legal matter that everyone needs to look into. These people are crazy. Anything else please let me know

Hi

you are right!!! do not pay them a single cent until and unless they validate the debt. And take it from me....once you send them a DV letter they wont respond back to you. Because their business is to call innocent people and coerce them to pay for the debts they dont owe. Do not fall into their trap. send them a DV letter via certified mail with a RRR.

Guest please register and then people can PM you and if you would like to give your phone number in the PM. But please do not post your personal info. They have removed it for your safety.

I for one would like to see these people shut down for what they have put me through. But I would hate to see your safety put at risk over this. But my DFI is taking care of them for me.

I have paid $1,000.00 on $700.00 worth of loans. Today I got a call from United Pay Services saying they want another $1,000.00 or they will be calling my work and I will be arrested. The problem is the only number I have is for the collector, and I cannot get him to transfer me to any supervisor or anything. They are not even acknowledging receipt of the $400.00 in June of this year, saying I only pay $1,000.00. I am beginning to file complaints with the Attorney General and with the Department of Financial Institution, but what can I do to get them to keep from calling me. And can I really be arrested?

I have spoke with the Washington State Attorney General and have filed a complaint against United Pay Services. I have spoken with the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions and have filed a complaint against the payday loan places and against United Pay Services. I have spoken with the Washington State Department of Licensing and have filed a claim against United Pay Services for unfair debt collection practice. I have spoken with the Florida Attorney General and have filed a claim against United Pay Services. The rep from United Pay Services said they were located in Florida, but the area code that was calling me is in California. All agencies I talked to said DO NOT PAY THEM ANY MONEY. I have pay way more than I owed the original payday loan places, and I am not to pay any more until I have an accounting, which United Pay Services refuses to provide. Also, I went in and confessed everything to my boss, and he said he would not even listen to them if they call him (which they threatened to do). Take a stand everyone - - these people are evil. Remember, there is no debtor's prison anymore. The only way you could to go jail, EVER, is if they actually sue you, get a Judgment, start supplemental proceedings, at which you did not appear. Then a bench warrant would be issued for your arrest for failure to appear at the supplemental proceedings hearings. I'm not scared of them anymore.

The FTC got back to me and said that I should file complaints with the state agencies (which I have done). The FTC suggested I wrote to United Pay Services or fax them for payoff amounts. I laughed at the FTC. They don't get it. United Pay Services refuses to give their address and fax number, so I can't do these things. I tried to convey to the FTC the seriousness of this, and let's see what happens.

I received a call yesterday from united pay services, the guy said if I didn't pay 800.00 at that moment, i would be arrested, and I would loss my job and my kids, and a whole lot of other stuff. Has anyone who refused to deal with them, have you been arrested. Because I will file a complaint with my state. And the guy I was dealing with was flirting with me as I was trying to make a plan to repay.

I looked all yesterday for a website such as this and couldn't find it. I too was called yesterday by United Pay services and was told my payday loan with total lending was sent to them and that I needed to pay 820.00 or I would be arrested at my job. They also called my job and left several messages. I am very angry because I just sent a money gram for 600.00 to these people. Money I didn't have to waste. So now what do I do.I don't have the original lenders information. What do I do now???

United Pay Services is using the number 305-433-8368. They had previously been using 908-212-3726 under the name of "United Legal Investigations Bureau" (the number is now disconnected). I called and spoke with "John Catler" at both numbers. There is absolutely no connection between these phone numbers and ANY legitimate debt collection service. The only service these people provide is to separate you from your money - for no legitimate good reason...

This is not a legitimate operation. DO NOT negotiate with these individuals. Immediately report any incidents with them to the Federal Trade Commission and your states Attorney General's office.

I got a call this morning at 7:30 and this so call officer stated he was calling in regards to an account I had in collections and that it was something legal being put against. He knew all of my personal info even my previous bank which I have closed. He stated I need to pay $800 or I would be arrested or my home and job would be in jeopardy. He did wanted me to send the money via western union but I went ahead and called the original lender and they stated I should not send any money to anyone unless it was the collection agency they reffered me to the collection agency company but I am now waiting on a call back from them. In the meantime what do I do he stated he would transfer my case to the state of new jersey and my local police dept.
