I received a call this morning from United Pay Services regarding a loan with E-Payday. The caller was stating that if Payment was not received today, legal action would be taken and I would be arrested at work for writng a worthless check. I called them back and asked for a faxed copy of a breakdown of all the charges incurred and was told that that could not be done until payment was received. I don't want to be arrested but I don't want to pay $500.00 in extra charges either for a loan that has been paid on time until last week when my bank started blocking ACH debits due to ongoing withdrawls. I am dealing with other PDL companies who have been OK with payment plans but this one is a little freaky. Do I pay the full amount? Has anyone else dealt with this collections company?

Well I received my certified registered mail back on Saturday stamped "Attempted - Not Known". It is stamped two times with the same message. The adddress I attempted to mail it to is The United Pay Services 4494 Southside Blvd., Suite 203, Jacksonville, FL 32216. I am so frustrated. What is the recourse now? There is no way to find these people. Who knows... are they even located in America? They sure don't speak like they are from America. I have a Cease and Desist letter all typed, delivery attempted and failed. I am at a lose as to what to do next. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would welcome any suggestion.

Mrs. Kane, use the information that I have provided to file a complaint with the attorney general's office for your state. See if they can locate them using that information. If they can, file your civil suit then. Since they had taken the liberty of involving your daughter in this the damages you can collect upon will be quite large.

Hi everyone! I too am having some problems with these clowns! I recieved a call on Jan 29, 2008 by a "Paul Adams" from the 305-433-8368. He tried to get me to Western Union $3,500 on a $150.00 PDL!!! I told him if i had that kind of cash i wouldn't have gotten a PDL he then said he'd knock it down to $2,600 (aw....isn't that sweet...NOT) Anyhow...for this Western Union Payment he said to send it to United Pay Services and the code City and state was BMG, Florida.

Awesome! Thank You!! i'm going to send that validation letter first thing tomarrow morning. Also, what i did was after the calls took place i went to my local sheriff's office and filed reports on both phone numbers. For the 305-433-8368 the sheriff called this "Paul Adams" guy and of course he didnt pick up the phone( i'm guessing they have caller ID)But the sheriff did leave him a voice mail, basically stating that "just to let him know that in the United States it is concidered felony to impersonate a federal agent and he would much appreciate it if he called him back at the local police station." as Paul Adams was claiming to be with the FBI. Also, i'm getting my cell phone company to send me a statement of all the calls for the month of January and February so i can highlight how many times my cell phone was called by both numbers, because from what i understand if it goes over a certain number of times in a day that it's concidered harassment, right? I did however, have 2 nasty voicemails from 305-433-8368, both threating me and my family, telling me they were coming for me, they'd make me know exactly who they who and i'd be sorry, and one voicemail from 904-236-5141 stating i'm in huge trouble and i need to call her back(i didn't call her back).....unfortunatly i was unaware that my voicemails on my cell phone will delete themselves after being stored for 8 days so the best of the best evidence is gone.

Crime prevention? sounds like he's about to set himself up to get you at least $1,000. If you live in NY as your name implies then you should record the call when you call him back. If he makes any threats about charging you with a crime, having you imprisoned, or stating he is with (or working with) any federal or state law enforcement agency (which sounds like what he is going to do) it will be a major fdcpa violaiton which you can file suit for. Don't let yourself be intimidated because debts are civil matters, not criminal. Get the recording and if you still have the recording where he stated he was with "crime prevention" save that as well as it alone could be all the proof you need. After you call him back (recording it) go speak to a attorney. If you need help locating a consumer attorney in your area try naca.net.

Not really sure, if they do file suit I would suggest requesting they validate the debt during discovery, if they fail to do so then you could probably motion to dismiss with prejudice. What state do you live in currently, that way I can check laws in your state for recording calls.

Debts are civil matters, not criminal. You cannot be charged with a crime/arrested/imprisoned. The only crime that has been committed is their violation of the fdcpa for threatening arrest, that and extortion. You should file complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and your state attorney general's office. You could also file a complaint with the Florida attorney general's office as that is where they are located. United Pay Services is a fictitious name registration, I was able to track it down to TUPS corporation out of Jacksonville FL.

I have read some of the comments regarding united pay services. i have recieved several harrassing phone calls at work which is illegal. I ask them to provide an address where I can send any correspondence but they refuse to. I am going to file a police report. I kept a record of all the phone numbers and persons who have done this. How can I send a cease and desist letter to someone who is unwilling to send me contact info?

I am investigating a female who sent money to United Pay Services, and I can not tell if UPS is an actual debt collection agency or a scam. Can anyone help?

Theyve been calling me trying to collect money. the first call i got was in may of 06 and i did pay $290. which was for a loan i had taken from ashland funding. They told me that it was all clear and that they will send me a statement stating i paid that statement i requested was never state. THEN they called agian this yr in around the same time 2 yrs later asking me for money. That they will have someone come arrest and put a warrent out for my arrest. TO LET YOU KNOW THEY CANNOT PUT A WARRENT OUT FOR YOUR ARREST I CALLED MY LOCAL POLICE STATION ABOUT THIS. They will not let me speak to a supervisor. i had one of my friends call them and ask to speak to someone they will not indentify themself. THESE PEOPLE ARE RUDE. THEYVE CALLED FROM MULTIPLE NUMBERS. THEY CAN NOT HAVE ANYONE ARREST YOU. NOR PUT OUT A WARRENT FOR YOUR ARREST. IM LOOKING AT EVERYONES POST AND EVERYTHING IS UNDER A $1000 ALL THEY CAN DO IS TAKE U TO COURT.

I too am involved with this so called scam. Officer Shane Watson started calling my office last Friday stating that he was representing my bank and my bank was filing fraud charges against. Altogether I am supposed to have over 30 felony charges on me. Monday he called my work and he stated to pay up. He called my office over 20 times today and I have called the payday loan company Cashnet usa and I do not have any outstanding loans with them. As of tonight, I have filed complaints so far with the FBI, Federal Trade Commission and tomorrow it will be Florida's Attorney General office. They have to be stopped!
