Hey Everybody I need advice. My cousin got a letter from these people and they are threating to take her to court. We live in WV I think this was for GMCard which had a credit line of 100 0they say she owes 3302.27. She cannot work draws SSI for a crushing injury to her back and also has a mentally impared child. She did not declare bankruptcy because she couldnt afford the attorney. What legal rights do they have in WV? She is so scared. I told her you all are great but she cant afford the computer either. She draws around 1000 a month for her and child. Thanks KYSIDE38

First thing, did Wolpoff and Abramson validate the debt in writing? Threatening legal actions is not allowed as per the federal laws. If they intend to do so, they must check their legal collection lines. They need to send the details of the debt in writing before heading towards any actions. Ask your cousin to send a debt validation letter. I am sure you might have also advised the same thing. Ask her to send the letter through certified mail.
