Date: Sat, 07/15/2006 - 08:22
Basically to make this a long story short...
Deposited some funds to a gambling site, and had trouble withdrawing, company kept avoiding me, so I had no choice to do a ach bank revocation to get my funds back. Next thing I know a collection agency is calling me threating me if I dont pay, it will screw up my credit report.
I told them, listen, the gambling site avoiding me on my withdraw request and wont cooperate, what am i supose to do? anyway they call me three times a day and send me letters in email, i just dont answer now.
How bad can this get? it was for sum of $500.
what should I do? continue to avoid them?

Has the collection agency sent you anything in writing about this account? You know where the debt actually took place. The CA is required by law to put that information in writing before attempting collections? If they cannot give you this info, it simply shows that they don't have your account details. Under such circumstances, they must stop all collection activities and must not report any negative remark in your file. If they do it, fdcpa violations will take place against the CA and you can file a legal case against them.
If they have given you the info in writing, make payment arrangements with them so that they do not try to tarnish your credit severely. Remember, collection entries have a serious negative impact in the credit file lowering the credit scores.

Yes I received it in writing, I am aware of where the debt took place, the thing is, right now a lot of online gambling sites are getting shut down, so they freeze your assets, only way to get your money back is buy requesting a ach revocatoin from the back so the funds go back... this is where the 3rd party company that took funds away from me .. pass the account to the collection agencies.. so they do have all my info.. but again.. its not like its my credit card debt, this is completely different debt that I never authrized..
