I was just wondering if doing a debt consolidation is bad against your credit score. Will it always be on your credit report.

No, a debt consolidation won't be always in your credit report. It will stay there as long as you are enrolled in the program. If you are regular in your monthly payments in the plan, all your accounts will remain current with the creditors. The monthly payments will be set according to your financial situation. The counselor will call all your credit companies and notify them about your enrollment in the program. Your future creditors will see that you have taken a professional help to pay off the debt accounts instead of leaving it in a default state. Sit with your consultant and clear up all your queries before getting started with the program. I will suggest you to take this professional help as things will improve in the better direction in the long run. Also read this page to know about the benefits you will be getting in the program.
