rep: Why do we need to mail you something?
me: Because I have never heard of you, and never recieved anything in writing. I would like to verify who you are before I pay anything, especially since you have a lot of inaccurate info on me.
rep: What makes you think we are obligated to send you anything, you need to pay your account.
me: Why would anyone just pay someone over the phone without knowing who they are, or even what they owe?
rep: hold please I will let you speak to a supervisor.

me: I am not Tom
Supervisor: oh, ok sorry, anyways this is regarding your Target account. Target has already done an asset investigation on you and asked us to decide whether or not the money can be collected or if they need to take further action.
me: ok, could you please send me something in writing?
Supervisor: No, what do you need that for? You have an account that needs to be paid.
me: I do not even know who you are, you have inaccurate info on me, and I refuse to pay someone when I cannot verify who they are.
Supervisor: Well, I will give you the info on where to pay.
me: Sir, who has my account? Does Target have my account, or do you now own my account?
Supervisor: what difference does that make?
me: Because if Target has my account, I will call them. If you do, then you are required by law to mail me something in writing.
Supervisor: you are not above the law.
me: Ok, not sure what that means, but like I said, you have to mail me something.
Supervisor: well we did that long ago, and we can prove that.
Me: Sir, I have never even heard of you. You don't even have my correct info. You never mailed me anything.
Supervisor: Don't worry, we are covered on our end. So, you need to pay your account.
Then I hung up. Can you believe them? Who do they think they are? They will never get paid that way. So, should I try to call Target and verify all this, or will they just send me back to these guys? If I were to pay them, I am sure I would not get any type of receipt or proof that I paid. They won't even send me a bill or anything.

Ok, I am assuming that you have done this recording after checking the laws in your state. Most states allow recording of the phone calls secretly. There are few states though, where you have to take the permission of the other party. If you are not sure about this info, tell me the name of the state where you live. I will check out if you have got the legal stand here. Don't tell them anything about this recording now otherwise they will try to hold it against you especially if you are required to ask their permission. This recording is enough to prove their fdcpa violation that is mentioned in the federal law. Read this page.

I have been getting calls from this company on my cell-phone told the nasty lady on the phone to stop calling because i have contacted the utility company in which she said she is collecting for, and they said that I don't owe money, so what is with this company? where do they get their information? and how do I get them to stop calling...

I get a call from Ms. Henry from 636-530-7985. I had paid it to another company and since i have cleaned out items. I can't find the letter. The place I paid was one the changed to another company after doing research online. Anyway, she replies with you are lying you have to pay. I ask for her full name and agent number and two good contact numbers if I need to speak with her. She said she doensn't have to give it to me and she will call everyday until she gets a payment. Of course, I don't even know the amount or where to send since she refused giving any info about her or whom whe works for. I reported her to the FTC and will report this week if any other discriminating/threatening calls are made. She just phones again, I replied with I have reported you to the FTC. She holllered, WHAT, you still have to give me all your information and I will still call everyday. My reply to that was I have reported you and will not talk with you only your supervisor and have a nice day. I then hung up. That is all I could think of doing since she still refused to give me any information..

This company violates the Fair Debt Collection Act by not validating the debt by mailing the consumers proof they owe the bill which most likely is out of the statute of limitations, by using automated dialer and talking to third parties just to name a few. Any legitimate collector will follow the law this agency is one that buys bad debts and tries to collect by fear and harrasment which is against the law!

Has anyone received calls from them about student loans? I am getting calls for my daughter. Daughter said she pays the company that she has the loans from (not NARS). She contacted her loan company and they have no idea how NARS got her info. Big time scam!

Target still owns it, so call them. You can always call the original owner of the debt anyway to verify that they don't own the debt any longer. It really annoys me when these places don't know or feel they have to follow the law.

In 2009 we had a dispute with an ambulance company, which involved my 89 year old mother, and the reasons for nonpayment of the bill by Medicare. I had directly contacted the ambulance company regarding this dispute, but they would not acknowledge my contact. The bill was turned over to another debt collection agency and I wrote the required letter stating my communications with Medicare to try to resolve this. Not Another Word has been heard from anyone connected with my dispute. This was in 2009.
On Dec 13, 2010 we received a debt recovery letter from this NBR about this same ambulance bill--over one year later! Before I could respond, due to a holiday vacation, we received a phone call from this company. I had already researched this company and forwarded a letter to them on Dec. 27, well within a 30 day deadline.
During the call, I informed them that I know about them and that basically they were a fraud, and to "buzz off" as I would not talk to them. NO CONTACT SINCE THEN!
Maybe I will be hit with a lawsuit, but I am Ready.
