I've done tons of personal research as to how I am going to reconcile $50,000 of unsecured CC debt (Citibank, Chase, and United Mileage Plus). I have been enrolled with Credit Solutions of America for the past 3 months and am sooo dissatisfied with their help that I want to get all my money back from them. I have contacted Mezey & Associates which is a Law firm that negotiates debt settlement. Has anyone heard of them? Unlike, Credit Solutions, they seem to have better leverage in negotiating debt with the large creditors and will set up a Trust Fund account towards my debt settlement. Plus, they're certified lawyers who are professional negotiators and not some trained negotiator who knows a little law. I guess, I'm inclined to trust their opinion a lot more. But since the fiasco with Credit Solutions, I want to know what retaining an actual private lawyer will be able to do for me in relation to my debt. Basically, what can hiring a private lawyer for a flat fee do for me in comparison to a debt settlement law firm?

Mezey has a f rating with the better business bureau.they will promise you anything to get you to start paying those's fee's. Once you start paying and relize that they are not fulfilling their promise then the nightmares start......deal with the creditors yourself. Start at 40-50% they will deal with you. Since i was with mezey i myself settled two of the four debts. Now i relize i could have saved myself 5100.00 from dealing with those's liars

You also need to get a life. Quit acting like a self-riteous...self appointed sheriff for all these snivelers! I'm a collector and I'd like to harrass all these pansies till they cry! Boo-Hoo! Maybe, there mommie mistreated them...that's why they're all such losers!!!!!!!!!

i was going to make another comment, but you are just a lost cause loser.see what RD says about you cry babies you scare easy. thats why you don't understand. When Mezey instructed you not to talk to your creditors, obviously he had a reason. "if you stay in a protracted conversation they will intimidate you" when that happens you lose. i am done with this board.

JZ & RD
I am not a pansie, a cry baby, or a loser!
I have NEVER let any collector make me cry or intimidate me. I read the script, stood my ground any time anyone tried to speak to me. I trusted Mezey to handle my debt problems and my trust was 100% until the moment I was told that if a judgement was put against me that I was on my own and they could do nothing to help me. Oh, they offered to lower my monthly payment but the initial fee was not to be adjusted for the judgement that I had to pay. I am not scared nor am I a pansie, I am just disgusted with the lack of ethics. I have read my service agreement quite a few times and in that agreement I was to expect them to make their best effort to settle my debts and that they would promptly respond to my inquiries and concerns. none of which happened, I was in the dark until I was served my first summons and then Mezey and Associates' true incompetence was revealed. Even today I sit and wait for my reserve money to be refunded, I am getting the run around from this company and no one can give me a proper answer to why I am still waiting. They obviously are going to keep their fee and I see it as a live and learn moment in my life, I do have a lawyer and I am in the process of filing bankruptcy, but my personal belief is that this company is no where near having morals or ethics. I will do my best to let Everyone know my story before they trust Mezey and Associates!

Just because an attorney registers with a bar association in a particular year doesn't mean thats when they gfraduated you idiot. It only means thats when he joined that bar. many lawyers are members of the bar in different states. They add them as necessary.

I've been a client for a year now and have seen a lot of positive changes. I'm on my 2nd card being paid down and am very happy with Mezey's staff. Sure i had problems early on, but they were my own fault. I ran up my credit cards and needed to take reponsibility for my own problems, instead of blaming everyone else. Now i'm getting control of my financial situation thanks to Mr. mezey.

It was easier before when I had my credit cards, until I maxxed them all out. Now I'm stuck paying them off. If I just did the minimums it looks like it would take 30 years. So at least this way I'm out of debt in 3 years.

You can't fix stupid! The banks want you to run up your debts so they jack up the interest rastes and get the late fees and penalties. Abusing credit is an addiction. Better to just not use credit to begin with.

I'm new to this chat, but am real grateful my friend referred me to Mezey & Associates. Up to this point it's been a nightmare dealing with collectors. Now I can finally sleep at night. Today's Easter and I feel like I've been reborn and can start live all over again, thanks to Mezey.

Do not use Mezey! They are scammers. You can settle the stuff yourself. They are unprofessional and their communications are not legal. Their involvement has caused me more grief than good.
Beware. Their is no quick fix. Save yourself money.
These people WILL get you sued.

The "salesman" lies to you. He said you won't get sued. He's full of crap. Certain cards will not work with Mezey. They will turn you right over to a collection agent who will harass the heck out of you.

My husband and I are very pleased with the results and thankful our debts are finally getting paid down. We have found the staff to be caring and helpful, which is a stark contrast to the shark creditors that used to harass us.

The creditors only want your money. They don't care about anything else. At the minimums we were paying it would have taken us 30 years or more to get out of debt. So 3 years to get out from under is a big relief! We did't get in this mess overnight and don't expect to get out of it overnight either. So, we can be patient with the process. We just thank God it's off our backs now!

There are a handful of complaints with 1,000's of clients, so it seems to me there's a lot worse ways to go. Bankruptcy sticks you good for a decade on your credit report, but comes up forever on any background searches. We run them on staff applying for jobs and it doesn't go away. So I'm sticking with it and it's working for me. Also I understand it's a few year program and don't need to call customer service all that often anyway, but whenever I do they've been real helpful.

Just got my refund back from my reserve account it was short. Called mezey and ask for account statement of all activity. They said they do not give out statemnts..theses people are a bunch of clowns and the most rude people in n.y. i settled two of the four debts myself.....when i join the program i had 37,000.00 in debt. They told me that i would pay somewhere around 22,000.00. They lied. I paid 31,000.00 not much of a savings that i thought i would have gotten with this program. Stay away from theses scam artists...... Liars, liars....

Thank God we found M&A! It's a big burden off our backs. We had 2 settlements so far and one was for 35%. So, we're very very happy! All I can say is hang in there, it takes time, but is well worth it.

You guys work for mezey and associates or you are just plain liars...thoses people will never settled a debt for 35%. Look i just finished up with mezey and i settled two of the four debts that i had at a better % rate then mezey did....also mezey had been telling me since feb 1 that you could get on line to check your account. Another lie...i also ask for a statement of my account and all transactions and payout. Their response was we do not send out statements. I ask why because when i received my refund from my reserve account it was short... You still cannot get on line to check your account..you are at their mercy....... Stay away.....they are a nightmare..........

They have their act together and do what they say. The few complaints seem to be from all the same clients who don't want to take repsonsibility for the hole they dug themselves in.

I just spoke with client services today and was real pleased with their attentiveness. I don't need daily access to my account, but once in a while like to get updated. Hang in there. It works. Hey, they didn't charge up my credit cards, I did! So, now it's payback time...

Thank you for the encouragement. This is like dieting, having to be disciplined and look at the big picture. More then half my income has been going to pay interest. I'm sick and tired of it already, and am finally resolved to grow up and stop blaming everyone else for my over indulgence.
