Wages of state employees can also be garnished as per the laws in your state. Wages cannot be garnished without court orders. The company needs to file a case against the person for a judgment before the judge decides wage garnishment. Are these lenders internet or storefront?

they are both. i spoke to the store front as of yesterday and set up payment arrangements. we are going through a company that cleans up your credit and want to get these taken care of before they hit my husband's credit because we are trying to purchase a house.

As long as you've set payment arrangements, it's highly unlikely that any lender will garnish you. They don't want to rack up any unnecessary expense.
Also..Certain state employees CANNOT be garnished. Depends on which capacity he works for.

BTW..A consolidation company usually prevents garnishment as well. I've filed a few writs for people under consolidation, but those people were in waaay more trouble than payday loans.
Also, I defaulted on 6 payday loans, and not one of them ever showed up on my credit report. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone else getting hit by one, either. If a store front lender got a judgement against you, though..That would be a really ugly mark.
