I Have one credit ccard that I owe about 500.00 on and I have bills in my name that where never payed off I did an estimate of all of the bills i owe and it come sout to extactly 3,500.00 although this looks like a small amount now that me and my husband are working we want to get rid of this debt so we can buy a car. I don't know your financial situation but I would imagine if you're in the military and you have a child, you aren't rich? A debt counselor should be contacting you shortly. If I have some extra money in this situation, I would like to get the best deal from the creditors and pay off the debts. Since you are having good plans about the future, don't let this debt stay with you for long. It can hurt your credit negatively.
