Just wondering,

Are collection agencies required to notify you before adverse actions begin to occur? I own a good amount of money to several cards, and they have been calling and threatening constantly + etc.

Is there any warning before wage / bank garnishments start to occur? I'd like to set up plans eventually, but I'm trying to get OK with my non - credit obligations before I start that process. I'm just worried that I'll deposit a paycheck, or worse, my student loan check, and then all of it will disappear / I'll be in trouble w/ everybody, and not just with the CCards (temporarily...)

Thank you,

concerned

Credit company must notify you at least one time before they intend to take legal actions against you. It will be good if you can call them directly and work out payment arrangements. They can accept your proposals since you are willing to pay the debt and hence stop all legal actions.

concerned,
They have to offer you a chance to pay before they start legal procedings, but it doesn't have to be a payment arrangement..They may demand payment in full.

Please register with the site. Maybe you could benefit from debt consolidation. It can help stop the judgements from happening, and make your budget a lot more livable. Once you sign up, a counselor will call you soon.
