Too many phonecalls from MCM
Date: Tue, 08/01/2006 - 10:33
Since July 28, 2006 I have received numerous phone calls from a representative of MCM at my place of business. Since this person was requesting to speak to me directly he stated it was of personal nature. My secretary forwarded the messages to me. Since I did not recognize this name I did not return the call. After being interrupted several times by phone calls from this person, my office manager took the call and asked for pertinent details regarding the call. Apparently I have an outstanding balance on an account since 2003. I have never received any written request for payment or phone calls until now.
I returned the phone call in good faith only to get voice mail. He returned my call and asked me for the number I was speaking from??? He speaks with broken English which was very difficult to understand. I tried to call a supervisor which only lead me to voice mail. I decided to address this by certified mail. Now he is calling on the weekend an several times each day.

Releasing any information to anyone other than yourself, is a violation of the fdcpa laws. Make a complaint to the BBB. They are allowed to call anytime between the hours of 8am and 9pm. If no one answers, then they'll usually call back. Avoiding them only makes things worse. Once you find out the nature of the call, then you can accordingly, and send out a validation & cease letter.
Regards
Mike
MCM
Check your credit report. If it is listed there then dispute it. Send a cease and desist letter, Certified mail. If MCM does not stop then, file complaints with your state attorney general's office, the FTC, the Better Business Bureau, etc. I had call from this same company. I followed the intial steps found they were not on my credit report. They do not call anymore.

I am not putting my name on here because of liability reasons. I would like to say that a compnay like this calling my house asking for my name but a different last name. They call incessantly. I have told them that nobody by that last name has lived here. My number isn't the same as when the previous owners lived here and they keep calling. I just want the collection agency calls to quit.
Since they call using an out of network phone number I can't call back to get them to stop calling! I never even heard of this company and if they continue calling I will do something legal to get them to stop. It's bullcrap to be harrassed by a credit company that I know that I don't owe! If anyone has any information on how to get these harassing phone calls to stop. I would aprreciate the information. Thank YOU!

Evenin' TLG -
First off, I understand your security concerns, and I approve of them. Thet's why most everybody you see on here goes by a user name, nickname, or some such.
OK... This outfit that's pestering you. Are they Midland Credit Management? Or some other bunch of creeps? Let me know, and I'll find you their contact data.

Once we establish who the guilty scum are, and get an address, you can send them a cease-and-desist letter. First, I gotta know their name...

I am on the Do Not Call List and still get calls from them on a debt that is over 6 years old. That which I live has limitations of 4 years on most unsecured debit and they know this and still call
The DNC registry is to prevent telemarketers from calling you.
The DNC registry is to prevent telemarketers from calling you. It does not prevent debt collectors from calling. Lone Start - if you are receiving calls from regarding a debt that is past SOL, go to the DIY section of this forum. There is a past SOL letter you can use as a template. Tweak it to fit your situation and then send it out to the agency calling you via certified mail with a return receipt requested.
