My story is pretty typical. I originally got a credit card for emergencies and whatnot. Over the course of 2 years I managed to ring up over $8000 in debt. I finally need to get serious about getting rid of this debt, it's really just hanging over me like a storm on the horizon. I think with some consolidation I could get an interest rate much more manageable.

Evan, consolidation will be helpful because the interest rates will be lowered down with your credit companies. Besides, the counselor will first analyze your financial situation and then structure your payment plans. You won't have to go through financial stress in the program. You can take his advice anytime during the program and clear off the debts. Once everything gets paid off, credit will boost up in good shape.
