Hi everyone. I haven't been here in awhile as I thought this situation was over with. Here are my 2 previous threads on this issue from Aug, 05

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/forums/pay-offdebt.html

and here is the thread where I stated "lawyer" was not picking up the validation letter I sent in Aug 2005

So, here it is. One year later and I havent heard from this "lawyer" since. Until today when I opened my mail:

Dated Jul 26, 2006, but I just got it in the mail THIS week.

I am so sick of this crap already. Hell, I am already struggling to make ends meet as it is...literally. Thank goodness my in-laws own a cafe because right now I cant even afford to spend 50.00 on groceries. And who the hell can come up with 5k in 2 weeks!! AAAAGGGHHHH

The letter didn't have the necessary details that prove the creditors have authorized them for collections. They only referred as 'my client' and nothing else. Make sure you know the exact details before sending any money. I wonder why this debt collector contacted you again after a year. Don't let you money go into their pockets.

First make sure this isn't out of the SOL period. I would then send another debt validation letter to the attorney that sent you a letter, requesting full validation of this debt, certified, return receipt. They will ask for large amounts of money, but if worse comes to worse and it goes to court, you can file hardship papers with the court, and a judge will set payments based on what you can afford.Good luck-keep us posted :D ...Karen
