I received a call from a united federal saying he was legal advit and giving me a case number and telling me they would be coming to pick me up at work for a worthless check. He could not even speak English. He gave me a number to call him and started asking me for my account number I told him I was at work. He gave me a number 732-203-7708. I hung up on him.

I believe you might have read about the mischievous activities of united federal here. They call people with their illegal threats before following the rules in the fdcpa. They are bound by the federal laws to validate the debt. In most of the cases, they have tried to ignore it assuming that people will pay them out of fear. Don't get intimidated by their scary tricks. Write a letter to validate the debt first before you make any payment agreement with them.

Those pigs!
They tried that with me about a month ago. Told me they were federal agents and I would be arrested.
They're listed as a collection company in Big Pine Key, Fl. on the BBB website. They are also listed as the CA for Platinum B. Services, SJ Marketing.
I checked with the investigator for Florida Dept. Bus.and Prof. Reg. and he didn't have anything listed for them as far as licenses to do business as a CA.
I called them back and got their fax number. They wouldn't give it up at first, but I told them I wanted to fax them my bank information! LOL!! They gave it to me immediately and I faxed an eight page letter outlining how many laws they've violated! Also a copy of the investigators business card that says, "Division of Financial Crimes"! Haven't heard from them since.
Here's their fax number 773-829-8928, and the name they gave me was: Denzel Nash, they told me he was the manager.
Good luck!

Call Florida Department of Business and Prof. Reg., here's the website too: http://www.flofr.com/
Ask them for your local state's office, and give them a call and tell them you want to file a complaint.
I am working with my local state dept. and met with an investigator, also filed an affadavit on my pdl's. Florida really wants to ban these guys and the more complaints they get, the better the case they will have!
