Hi, I was talking to a friend about the whole payday loan thing and CTC (as they have been calling me non-stop since I defaulted on the loan a few weeks ago. My friend seems to think that since they are not licensed to do business in the state I reside (UT), that the contract was illegal. I did check w/the AG here in UT & CTC is definately no licensed under that name or any of the other names they go by. Any ideas on how I approach this next time CTC calls me? I want make payment arrangements which they claim is not an option. I do have them in as part of my debt consolidation plan that was started last week but I'm not sure if CTC will honor that either. I was thinking maybe if I brought up the fact they are not licensed maybe I could get some of the fees waived or reduced or something. Any suggestions?

First of all did you read your contract clearly before you signed it or clicked I Agree? I know it sucks that somehting happened to where you couldn't pay this when you were supposed to but reread the contract and make sure you didn't agree to be charged extra fee's. If it isn't in the contract then you should have to pay anything extra. Sometimes it isn't there but they pile on those fee's because they know that 80% of the population won't read those because they need the money.

Hi Ms G

Cash Transfer Center has charged illegal fees on many others. If the company has done something against the points mentioned in the contract, you have the legal stand against them. Post your complaints at the local AG's office as well as the FTC and the BBB. They will have to look into your case and get in touch with the company.

I want to include them in my debt consolidation plan but I don't have a valid US address for them. I explained to them that I was willing to make payments as I have become very sick ( still working - fortunately)but am amassing bills. They say they will contact my employer and have my wages attached. Can they do this? Please help?

Cash Transfer Centers has no valid US addresses. They are all false. They claim to be in Dublin, Ireland. You need to immediately revoke the wage assignment. Send them a wage revocation letter and give a copy to your employer. The wage assignments they use are not legal from my understanding. A wage assignment has to be signed in person. Cash Transfer Centers is not licensed to lend in the US. This company has committed several violations in regards to every states deferred presentment laws.

CTC is a nightmare to work with!!!! I have already revoked the wage assignment and advised my employer of the issue w/this company. Lynne Thomas is ther woman calling me. I advised her I did plan on paying them back in full within the next few months and to please provide me with an address where I can mail payment to. She stated they don't work that way and the only way they accept payment is via wire transfer. I advised her again I didn't feel a wire transfer would be in my best interest and there is no receipt and no guarantee it would be credited to my account. I advised her I plan on mailing payments in the form of a money order or cashiers check that whay I would have proof my money was received. She said they only deal with wire transfers as they prefer not to have a paper trail?????? Huhhmmm. this company definately is as shady as everyone says. Anyway, she says she will not just contact my employer direct. I have given my HR dept the head ups. They state if they receive anything regarding the wage assignment they will need to look into it but then will let me know. The state of UT states wage assignments are not valid unless they are "revocable". CTC';s is "irrevocable" so if it all comes down to it I'm hoping I will be fine. :-)

Maybe I misunderstood her. She said they would only accept a wire transfer through Moneygram or Western Union. Either way....I'm not sending them their money any way other than a cashier's check or money order. I need to have some kind of proof that payment has been made.
