I have a Sears account that I am past due on. It went to collections. I called them today to try again and set up payment arrangements. They said that they sent the account back to Sears. I called Sears and they said that the account is in recovery. What exactly does that mean? Will I have a better chance of setting up arrangements now that it is back with Sears, or will it be worse? Sears said that it is not with them and that it is in recovery. I am confused.

That might mean that it is in a different department at Sears - like an in-house collection department or something. I bet it is a good thing, and you will probably have a better chance of setting up payment arrangements and avoiding having a collection agency on your account. Let us know what you find out!

Recovery is just a pretty way to say collections. They say recovery to try and make it seem easier for you to bite down on and not get offended so easily. Sears will have a number to the agency it is currently with. I suggest you talk to a superivsor from the Sears credit card company and get the correct information.

They agency it was placced with before could no longer have it. Depending on if it was an Early Out (R4-6) or a Charge Off (R9) Some agencies do not deal with charged off credit cards.
