Hi all,

With so many cat people in the forum, it;s time to run a thread to post cat pics and talk about cats. They are such cute little beasts! This cat that I'm posting is my inlaw's-neighbor's cat who invites herself to my in-law's house all the time over in Denmark to eat table scraps, drink from the faucet, and lay on my husband. Here she is!

Less - see thats what I mean. They pick you. if you let them. With cats its very important that they want to be your pet.

I would not trade mine for anything but she is getting up there. 11 years already. Got her when she was 7. Did not mean to get a Cat so old but I felt sorry for her and she really took to me. Got her only 2 weeks after my other one died and it was the best thing I could have done. I can't ever have any other animals though as my Cat hates other Cats and all other animals. She is disgusted by them. I think she thinks she is a person. In her mind - I sleep in a bed, I live in a house, I eat what I want - I am a person.

less - Yes they all have unique personalities but your co-workers cat appears to have a personality disorder to attack its owner like that.

My current and previous cat have both been solitary animals but thet have never attacked or tried to harm me in anyway as a result of contact with other animals or for any other reason. My previous cat even used to get jelous of my lady friends but she ( the cat ) would take it out on her not me, not physically but with obvious dislike expressed in other ways. The new one is more tolerable of people.

OMG, cute new kitty pictures!!! They make me want to cry!!!

Less, I used to leave food out for the ferals as well! But now that we are in a condo, there are NO feral cats so I am not so lucky...that's how I gained two cats in the past, and they were the best!!

We had a cat when I was about 14 that would just snap for no reason. He'd be fine and then go crazy and bite and scratch. He also HATED it if your feet or hands were out from under the blankets at night. He would come in and check, and if they were, you were getting attacked. My friends were afraid to spend the night. I would have to put pillows under my bedroom door because he would squeeze through..lol

He was an indoor/outdoor cat, and the little "pimp" of the neighborhood. He was all white with one blue eye and one green eye--We now have a bunch of stray cats with one blue eye and one green eye hanging around the neighborhood..lol

Less - I did not know that about cats! That is really interesting!!! That explains a lot about my mom's cat!

Jessi - My first cat would do the exact same thing with my feet! Also, I would wake up in the middle of the night to the cat digging into my hair - she would attack it like a kid in a pile of leaves! That's how she got her name...I can't really type it here without violating some kind of terms of service though!

Hi guys. I wanted to say I really appreciate set4sail posting these pics for me.
My Smokey cat is the one I had to have put to sleep. He was a really cool cat. He was hanging upside down with his tongue sticking out so I had to take a picture of him. I still really miss him. My mom brought the cat carrier back to me last weekend and as soon as I saw it I started bawling.
I get to get my new little kitty on June 24. She was born on May 5. I'm making an assumption that it's a girl. The person I'm getting her from wasn't sure.
I' very excited. It's been awhile since I've had a little one in the house.
As you can tell Moira is the queen of the house. She's become very lovey since Smokey is gone. She is always right next to me. She used to be very standoffish. You know one of those cats that only wanted to be petted every once in awhile.
So thats my family, except for my parakeet Blueboy. :)

I love the little baby kitty picture. :)

Someone just brought a little puppy in here to my work last week...It looked like a little tiny polar bear. :) Just a little white furball.

My dog Barney isn't doing so well. :( She's really old, and is having trouble walking. Probably won't be too long until we have to think about having her put down. :( But she's had a good life. :)

...I love everyone's pics of their cats!! I will be putting up a pic of my two that adopted us soon. Jessi,I'm so sorry about Barney,I had to put my shih-tsu to sleep after 12 years. Even though I knew she had a good life,it still broke my heart. I am such an animal lover and advocate. That's how I ended up with two cats, thei momma brought them to our house and all three were ferred, but so hungry it didn't take long until they tamed dow, just alot of food water and love :D ...Karen

Well, I got two kittens a week ago tonight. One is a white calico I named her Holly. She is so petite and walks like a queen. She isstill skittish(?) of me and runs when I come near her. The other is a mixture of orange stripes, white and and orange diamond shape on the tope of her head. so of course her name is Jewels. My older cat (6 Years) Scamper is slowly getting used them. Once I figure out how to get the pictures up I'll post them. Jewels was sitting on my lap fasinated ny the computer screen! The two kittens are so funny playing with each other and play fighting. Jewels ia a week older than Holly. how do you put pictures up here?

I use Photoshop to reduce the size, and if you don't have that there are many other imaging programs that will do it as well.

Worse case, you can get a Photobucket account, upload it there, and post a link (without the http and www parts so that it is disabled) and we can cut and paste it!

Karen, can't wait to see pictures of your little ones. My friend is going to send me new pictures of the kitten I will be getting in a couple of weeks. She is so cute. I can't wait. Once he emails me pictures I will see if I can figure out a way to get them posted. I might have to ask set4sail again if she is up for it. I'm hoping I can figure it out on my own this time around. :)

Funny reading through these. The one common problem we all seem to have is losing some sleep because of our cats. Mine is so loud. She stands in the doorway yelling and screeming until I get up. She does it when she thinks I am sleeping when I am not supposed to like naps and oversleeping.

One odd ritual we have is I always have to pick her up and place her on the bed when I turn in for the night otherwise she will come charging in waking me up by screeming near the doorway. Its like she has to be invited or she will yell and screem until I wake and invite her up. My last cat used to sleep on her own, I do miss that. But she was even louder than my current one when she wanted something.

I like talkers, thats why I get female cats because they tend to be more vocal. But man it can be annoying at times.

My Smokey cat, who was a male, was the biggest talker ever. Especially if I was on the phone. I always had to talk over him. Of course he would climb up in my lap as soon as I got on the phone and just start talking. Even my dad, who didn't usually acknowledge him, would say " Can you please make your cat stop talking so I can hear what you are saying?". :) My Moira kitty, who is twice as old as Smokey, never talked much but ever since Smokey died she has become quite the vocalist. Not when I'm on the phone though. Funny thing is I miss it. Oops, here come the tears. I'm goiong to go now.

Karen that's awesome, you are a kind person. Taking in a feral cat takes loads of work, and is a labor of love. These animals are truly innocent, we need more people like you out there! I fed Hank's parents for 1.5 years before they trusted me enough to touch them. Then momma cat had another litter and this time she brought Hank around, after a few weeks she and papa cat left him on our porch. I felt honored and touched that they trusted me enough to do that. Hank ended up just sitting on our porch for 4 days or so until he finally came inside; this was 2 months ago :)

October 16th is Feral Cat Day, if you can show support by feeding, helping a caregiver or anything you can, or have the energy and time for!! Seeing the want for respect of life in these cats eyes will show you all the thanks you will ever need!!

Chagrin,

You're babies are so cute !! I have four house cats myself along with several barn cats. We feed the barn cats twice a day with dry cat food: I also worm them during the summer months. I recently had to get rid of one of my cats because she fought with the others so much but I found her a good home. One of my cats, Sammy, I adopted from someone at my vet's office. She wasn't able to keep him and his story broke my heart. When he was a kitten, some kids has locked him in a freezer for a few hours. He was lucky to be alive but he is thriving today. We are looking to adopt a kitten, we will due this from our local rescue mission. I need to post my baby's pictures up here sometime. We also have two german shepherds.

I need some help here. My oldest cat has started giving me a "present" outside my bedroom door every morning for the past week. Her cat litter box is clean, she has plenty of food, and she gets more than her fair share of attention. She doesn't act sick. When I open my door every morning there it is. YUCK. And there she is peeping around the corner to watch me and then I look at her and she takes off. What is up with that? Any suggestions?

Yes it does suck. Not a pretty site to wake up to. She doesn't act sick, still has good appetite, playful, etc...I really think she's doing it on purpose the way she peeps her head around the corner when I open up the door in the morning to see if I find it and then I look at her and she takes off and then comes out to watch me clean up her mess, she's messing with me I think, and I don't like it too much. I'm just thankful she isn't spraying my carpet with urine and then I'll have to get new carpet, it is easier to clean up the messy pile (which isn't much, but doesn't make it ok) All other times she uses the litter box except at this time. I really don't think she's sick.

My one male cat was peeing in the sink and tub a couple of years ago. One day I noticed blood in the urine and it turned out to be a bladder infection. Male cats seem to suffer from these more than not. You may want to call the vet on this one. My male cat will also poop in the tub when the litter boxes need cleaned and I have five of them in the house.

Steelers, Mishele and Jessi are correct, if it's not something obvious (like kitty is pissed at ya) then you should call the vet.
Things like a bladder infection, possible diabetes even, stress - because that's how cats react to stress sometimes - all things to consider.

Keep in mind that cats will also do things like that in the open areas as a method of communication to you, that they are feeling bad :(

No she isn't fixed yet. She is an indoor cat and she is very afraid of the outside. She's only 1 yr. old. And I freaked out last month, I thought she was dying because she was acting lethargic dropping to the floor and making a horrific sound. (I had just gotten a kitten a month earlier and this kitten thinks she is her mother and was suckling her) I rushed her to the vet and the vet told me she was in heat and experiencing a false pregnancy, said my cat thought she was in labor. The false pregnancy was because the kitten kept suckling her and she was in heat. Scared me to death. I will be calling the vet in the morning. Otherwise she acts very playful and happy.

I have a big beast of a cat. his name is Akili Smith, after the univeristy of oregon football player that went on to play for the Bengals. My kitty looks like a little tiger. He's part Oci-cat, part siamese. So, he talks all the time. When I get home, he tells me how his day was. When it's time to go to bed, I'll say "Are you ready for nite-nite with mamma?" And he'll look right at me and go "meow" then follow me to the bed so he can jump up and sleep on my head all night. He weighs about 18 pounds, but he's just a big guy. He's really not that fat, just big. All momma's say that, though. He's my son....who just happens to be orange a furry and purrs.
