CLOSE THE ACCOUNT ASAP!
I would even reopen a new account at a DIFFERENT bank...That way there's no chance in the bank screwing up and transferring the debits to the new account.
I know it's a pain in the neck, but it is necessary.

Jessi is right, Olive... CLOSE IT!!!! the money may be going back in now, but stop payments are only temporary, and expensive. It'll be cheaper and cause you much less problems if you change your bank account. If you do stay with your current bank make sure you let them know what's going on..I saved myself a lot of grief by being honest with my bank, they prevented some funny stuff from going through.

The payday loan lenders have their ID's with the bank using which the debits are made. Explain the situation to your bank and get the user id of the PDL company blocked. Thus, you won't need to close the account and the PDL also won't be able to make any debits with different amounts. Try it.
Besides you will get some help in the threads below:

Close the account! Usually if you put stop on the ACH debits, the bank (at least my bank does) charges a fee for each stop. It adds up. Much cheaper and safer to close the account.

I was totally honest w/ my bank about what was going on. When I explained to them that I was going thru a debt mgmt company, they were more than happy to help. As long as they know you are just not trying to close the acct to AVOID paying they should help. Granted, I have been w/ them since 1992. It is a local bank as well, so they KNOW me. Believe me, THAT WAS EMBARRASING.

I closed my account that I had had for 28 years when I started a debt consolidation program. It was a hassle but believe me it was a relief to know the PDL's had no access to my money anymore.
