So, this 800 # has been calling me and instead of a person, its a damned machine.

Frankly I'm not going to waste my minutes on a machine that I have no idea why its calling me, my communication with them must not be that important. Therefore I hang up or let it go to voicemail (usually I hang up so I don't have to call my voicemail back to delete the message).

Now its gone to buggin my parents who are 2 1/2 hours away. Since my mom can't really say "go f off she doesn't live here" she wrote down the number and relayed it to me to take care of.

I loathe machines calling me, and hate it even more when they bug people that don't even live with me, esp if they happen to be my parents.

After telling her again to look in the phone book to find a number that will block that from calling again, and also to stop hanging up on someone else and instead to put them on their do not call list, we chit chat and I hang up.

The # is 800-259-6991. I've already googled it, and can't get to see the ripoffreport (right now I'm at work) due to web filter, and the other one is on a myspace, and that's about it.

I'm going to reluctantly call this number, first to see if they have an address, as I will rip them a new ass for calling people that live in another freaking state.

Oh, and when it calls my cell, no number shows up, its "new call".

Does anyone have any address to go with that number so I can write them a nasty letter telling them to either have a live person call MY CELL as well as STOP calling people 2 1/2 hours and 2 states away?

ThANKS in advance

OK just called it. Its not fingerhut.

Its Philip and Cohen Associates, I asked for their mailing address but didn't get it (forgot to ask near the end of the call).

They said it was originally with Washington Mutual, and apparently was 'bought'(?) by LVNV Funding.

I apparently owe $1876.70 to Wash Mutual which I dunno who this is.

FUn :sigh:

where can I get an absolutely free (i.e. NO giving of cc information) credit report?

This company is a zombie debt collector...which in essence means that they buy your accounts for pennies on the dollar (sometimes less than a penny per dollar, depending on how old the account is)

click on this link and read - very interesting and definately could save you money ;)

Link deleted as per forum rules - Mike

This # is Phillips & Cohen Associates (collection agency). They called me regarding a credit card debt that the bank couldn't collect for a year & send to them as a 3rd party collector.

I live in CA, my brother lives in PA. They are calling his house and I don't know how to make them stop that. I have an attorney who sent a letter to the credit card company. I am waiting for an answer from them.

This company is a bottom feeder. Go to BudHibbs dot com. You will find information you need under "collection offices" on left. A long list appears. you will need to scroll down to Phillips and Cohen. Click on it. They have three numbers that I know of so far. I started getting phone calls from them on March 28th 2009 or so. 1st number: (no person ever calls you).
1-866-321-2195
2nd from Ripoff Report: 1-866-719-3522
3rd number from this web site (from you)
1-800-259-6991.
I called this company back during their business hours. I called and talked to a MR. Walker and he said that I was wasting his time! Good. I called him 3 times the other day.
I left 2 messages for the 1st number on April 2nd, 2 messages today for the 2nd and 2 more messages for the 3rd number.
If everyone calls these stupid people back-and leaves messages, may be they will get sick? Better yet, call them back at noon.
