Well I borrowed $800 from Cashland and defaulted and I have paid back $300 of it. I guess I wasn't paying them off fast enough so they turned me over to their legal department. So I'm assuming that I will very soon be getting judgment information in the mail

The different is that the storefront lender is probably licensed in your state so if they want they can get a judgment. Don't be scared you will still be able to make payments to them.

You should call and make payment arrangements, they will work with you.Dont be scared, just make the call, they can hurt you over the phone, and you might be surprised at the stress it will take off of you, when you get this worked out.Read other threads about the online ones you have,if they are not licensed in you state, they cant take you to court, and may even write the interest off,if you agree to payments.Good Luck

Hi Jesmith
The lenders use these kinds of strategies in order to get their payment faster. Most of the times, they don't file a case looking at the court costs and fees involved with it. Send as much as you can afford to your lenders. Make sure that you have a proof of the payment made to them. In case, the lenders go to the court, the judge will rule in your favor because you are trying to take care of the matter.

I once had a loan from Cashland about 5 years ago and I also worked for them for a few months. They are usually pretty easy to work with as far as making payment arrangements. Have you gotten a letter from their collection dept? Either go into the store and talk with them or write a letter to the main office address stating how much you can pay a month, every two weeks or whatever. Do you live in Ohio? I believe their main office is still in Dayton. I believe if you make an effort, they will give you a chance to pay it off.
