If you only have 2 why don't you contact the companies and see if you can work out payment plans with them. Have your bank block the debits etc. and then you may not have to worry about it. Be proactive and try to get the companies to work with you. What companies are they? There are a lot of people on this forum with experience on pdl's who can and will help.
PDLs
They are ChecknGo and Cash Release Co. ChecknGo tells me tha they will keep trying to take the money as many times as they have to and I can't get a phone call back from Cash Release. the bank sayd that they cannot block the debits inless I am filing charges for unauthorized access to my account.

CheckNGo is a store front pdl right? We have them also and actually ending up making payment arrangements with their "collections department". If you put a stop payment on the checks you wrote the bank should be able to stop it, if you didn't write a check you should be able to block their ID number. Doesn't sound like the bank is being very helpful :( . Can you close the account and just leave enough $$ for the other (important) check to clear?? Just trying to help...

I went thru ChecknGo online so i didnt write a check. The bank said that if I close the accoutn they will return the important check. The check is for my city utilities. How can I get their ID #'s? Thanks for the help you are offering!!!

Have they debited your account before? The bank should be able to pull their ID number from the last transaction. Is there any way the bank will work with you at all? They don't sound very nice.

I just messaged the bank to see if they will work on this with me in order to keep me as a customer. I hope that they will!
PayDay Loans
Call the creditor of the check that is still outstanding and pay them cash if the check hasn't cleared and close your account. I had to do this and it saved me from lots of $$ being thrown away.

My bank has decided not to help me out....they say that after the account is closed if something tries to come thru I will get charged a fee.

Well, if it was me, I would close the account, pay the utilities in cash or money order and move to a different bank. We don't use a "bank" we use a "credit union" and they have been very helpful to us in the same situation. Sometimes a bank can more worried about profits than customers (at least that's my experience) but I would say bye bye to that bank. Can you arrange something with the utility company?
I hope so...I do live in a very small town. Maybe they will.

When they say that after you close your account you will be charged a fee---do they mean the bank itself? That makes no sense--how could they charge you if you no longer have account there? I closed my Bank of America account when I had pdl payments supposed to come through and BofA hasn't charged me for any returned items. Or are you talking about paying returned item fees to the pdl?

I would imagine the fees the pdl companies were charged when the account was closed in the first place. My bank never charged me when I closed my bank account and told them I was going into debt consolidation. You have to watch some of the lenders though because they will try to keep hitting the closed account.
