Plaza Assoc. putting inquiry in my credit report

I just saw on my credit report that this company "inquired" about me. What does this mean, and who are these people? I haven't applied for a loan or credit card in MONTHS!
It might be possible that this company has requested your credit
It might be possible that this company has requested your credit file within the last 2 years. What type of "inquiry" have they done? Inquiries for marketing purpose do not hurt the scores. The company should have a valid reason to put inquiry, otherwise dispute with them and get it removed. Too many red flags can hurt your credit potential. Collection inquiries hurt the scores severely.
