As you all know, we were victims of identity theft in July 2005. I placed a 7 year alert on the report, and when I got the latest report, it had nothing on there. Do they remove this stuff before the 7 year mark? I think it is very necessary to have this info on there, because it explains why our credit went down hill for a while and now we are on the rebound. Should I contact the credit bureaus and re issue the alert and once again send proof of why the alert should be put back on?

I got in touch with Equifax and they claim that every six months I have to reissue the alert. I told them I put the 7 year alert on, and they stated IT MUST BE AN ERROR. Boy, that made me feel great. I told them to put the 7 year back on immediately or I was going to file a complaint against them and they are suppose to reissue the alert and send me a free copy of our credit reports every month.
