This is straight from the BBB website:
"The company's size, volume of business, and number of transactions may have a bearing on the number of complaints received by the BBB. The number of complaints filed against a company may not be as important as the type of complaints, and how the company handled them. The BBB generally does not pass judgement on the validity of complaints filed."

It's to remind a consumer when reading the statistics on how many complaints have been filed against a debt buyer or collection agency to keep in mind how many accounts we deal with. For example, if we are collecting or buying 500,000 accounts on a particular portfolio, which is a low number, and the BBB receives 5000 complaints, which is a high number, that is only 1% of the accounts we are handling.

Could they maybe have written a letter but no one processed it correctly? Having hundreds of thousands of consumer accounts, your mail load has to be insane!

I've also called collectors and made certain arrangements then I get a phone call later on wanting to make arrangements and when I state I already DID, they like to argue with me and say I did not. I usually then I have to get out my notebook and give them names and a word for word to get them to BELIEVE me..Once I had a call-waiting beep and clicked over and it was the same company.

I'm not saying your company would pull things like that, and not all consumers are honest. But you have to say there has to be SOME that have slipped through the cracks.
