Should I send last payment by USPS or FedEx. What recourse will I have if payment is not posted by 6-15-06. I closed bank account because of excessive fees.

Emma, is it a store font lender or any of the online payday loan companies? If the company is not licensed to do business in your state, probably they will not take up any legal step against you, however, they will try to contact your employer, your references and whatever places they can. They may appoint any collection agency to collect the money as well.

Have you contacted your lender? Call them and explain the problem. Tell them you had to close the bank account for some reasons. Now how they would like to be paid? Try to retain documents of your payment and ask for some acknowledgement from them too.

 I didn't mention it was a online with Rio resources. but I just called them and they ask for debit-or credit card. Do you suggest I pay this way. I don't want other fees, so it's due tommorrow. I'll have to money-gram their money (extra $30) if not sending payment tomorrow.

They obviously weren't listening to you, if you told them you closed your account. Explain that you don't have a debit card, becuase you closed your account.

See about obtaining an address, and if provided just send in payment. If payment is cashed, they accepted your certified check/money order. Stand your ground, and state you can only send in a certified check/money order via certified mail.

Regards-
Mike

I recently put my payday loans into consolidation. I am going to have to put a stop payment on my ach' in order to stop the deductions, but I have been told that the companies get sneaky and enter an ach for a penny more or a pennie less so they can debit your account anyway.

I was thinking of doing the stop payments and closing that account, redirecting my check and other debits to my other account so that they can't debit that account. what do you think

Maria---If all you have set to come out of your bank account is the pdl fees why don't you just close the account without stopping payment on them. I waited until all my checks cleared and closed the account 2 days before the pdl fees were do.

As far as anyone being successful with paying off pdls through consolidation I believe some people here on the boards have completed the process. Many are just starting or have been in a while. Use the search button on your screen and you can search the posts for more details.

Maria, I learnt it from the members here that you can stop the companies from making debits in your account using different amounts. You have to contact your bank and request them to block the transaction code of the company through which the debit is done. Once it's blocked, the company cannot make debits even with different amounts. You will have a better understanding about this thing after discussing with your bank.

Maria,
Your best bet is to close the account. But listen to Lorri and close it within AT LEAST 2 days of the PDL's hitting the account. That way they will not be able to hit it again. If they do, and the payments bounce back, they will have no choice but to accept your payments via the consolidation company.

I have been with T&C since March and am making wonderful headway towards all my PDL's being paid in full. Keep it up and you will have success too.

Last year when this all came to a head, I had a huge problem with Bank of America. Someone got ahold of my routing # and acct # and started doing alot of shopping. Luckily for me in one way that there was only a minimal amount in the account to begin with.
This was during the time that Hurricane Wilma hit and there was no power or anything to be found in about an 80 mile radius in South Florida. Yet, transactions were still going thru my account and BofA was charging me NSF fees and all. I contacted all of my pdl's to let them know this and they still tried taking money out of the account.
BofA was not willing to put a stop payment or anything because they were ach debits from the pdl's. ahhhhh!!!!!
I spoke to BofA about the situation 3 times, all times were told that the fraud protection only applies to the Debit Card, not if someone gets ahold of the routing # and acct#. Therefore, they could not offer any assistance. That was the last time I spoke with BofA. They would not close my account because it was overdrawn due to the fraudulent transactions. I'm guessing that perhaps a pdl started trying to deduct the money without authorization. Not sure.
I'm sure BoA has sent my acct to collections. I have documentation of who I spoke to, date, time, correspondence via email, etc... I'll not let this one go.
