Can someone please explain to me what can be listed on a credit report for a Creditor, i.e. Chase, that sold my account to a collection agency and I then paid off the collection agency directly in full. Can they list both entries in the credit report? Looks like they have two different collection agencies listed on this, however, I only received documentation from one agency and also sent final payment to one agency. How are they allowed to list three entries?

thanks

No, three agencies cannot be listed for the same account. You will see the original creditor with the zero balance and the company to whom the account has been sold.

Dispute the third company with the credit bureau. They are not authorized to remain in your credit file. The CRA will verify the information and your file will be updated. You will see the change in your file after the dispute has been resolved. In order to get quick results, try to get in touch with the company on your own and verify their reporting. Send a letter to remove their entry from your credit copy.
