I received a call from a company named Prelitigation. They told me that I had to send them 580 dollars as a result of getting a payday loan from a federal company, and that if the payment wasn't sent before 4 eastern time that charges would be brought against me. I sent the money out of fear that I would get charged with something horrible. I then recived a call from the company they said they were representing and this company told me that they dont hire lawyers. What am I to do?

Did you get a telephone number from Prelitigation? Make sure they give you a paid in full letter forgiving you from paying the certain payday loan. Prelitigation lied when they said they're a lawyer. Search these forums and you'll find a LOT of info about Prelitigations shady tactics.

I received a phone call from the same company a few weeks ago while at work. Everything they said and threatened me with was illegal. They would not give me any information about who they were working for and would not give me the info on who they were collecting for. They only gave me the name of the creditor which was Platinum B Services. I will admit, it had me scared until I talked my father who once owned a Collection agency and he told me that everything they said and did was illegal. These people made it seem like they were some kind of investigator, not once did they mention they were a collection agency. They told me I was committing fraud and if I didn't pay them within 24 hours they were going to send somebody to my job to come get me. The next day I made a phone call to the Florida attorney general to report them and I also filed a complaint with FTC. You should defiantly report them and make sure you get a paid in full letter. Also make sure you know how the charges totaled to the amount you sent to make sure you didn't overpay them.

What's the name of the company that called you other than Prelitigation? Do you have the receipts of your payment? Talk to an attorney and he will call them on your behalf.

Read these threads on Prelitigation Inc. and know more about their dealings with the people.
