I gave birth to my first child in May of 2005. Much to our surprise we are pregnant again and due any day now with baby #2. Both of these pregnancies were high risk and I was on disability for the majority of the 9 months. We have accumulated about 10K in credit card debt (on 2 cards) over the past two years due to me being out of work. This debt isn't old and I've been squeezing and pinching so we can make our min. payments. Will we be able to get our debt or our interest rate reduced if the account is in good standing and the debt isn't old? I am so new at this...

Please don't say the 2nd time was a surprise. For $10,000 of debt, you could have paid for a taxi down to Planned Parrenthood and got many types of birth control.

You used extremely poor judgement in bring a life into the world when you don't have the means to support it. Now it gets to deal with living in poverty for the first years of its life.

As someone who got pregnant 4 times ON various methods of birth control, you CAN be surprised. For you to suggest that she take a trip to "planned parenthood" is ridiculous! What if she is pro life? What if she believes that children are a blessing? What if this child is what SHE needs to survive? The Bible says, "All things work for good to those who love Him." To put it another way, maybe her karma is getting better. Things like this have a way of working out.

Personally, living poor a least part of your life makes you appreciate what you had, have and will get. Poor is a relative term. It sounds to me like she has a good family, friends and support system. If she does; she truly is rich and pray that God continues to bless her.

Hockeygurl1979, Please do not listen to the ramblings of idiots. PM me if you need to talk.

What?? You are an IDIOT. Who's to say she was not ON birth control or taking precautions? I'm living PROOF that it does not work. There is a reason why they only give you a 99% that it is effective. My parents were "safe" and here I am.

And by her coming here and signing up and asking questions she is making certain her kids don't grow up in poverty.

Go take your negativity somewhere else, and leave us alone.

what?? Do you have control over destiny? If you can, you are supernatural. All of us are normal here and accept life as it comes to us. Besides, you can't draw conclusions just be reading 4 lines above and without understanding the complete situation. Do you know the circumstances behind the 10K debt? How can anyone be such sarcastic? Go, get a life. Please!

hockeygurl1979, don't take these words seriously. It happens, sometimes!! Take a free consultation from a debt counselor. He will arrange your payments and negotiate with the lenders. You will have lower interest rates in the consolidation program. Also, most of the financial charges, late fees can also be waived off reducing the total debt. Stick to the lower consolidation payments and the lenders won't take a negative turn. See the benefits offered in the consolidation program

Sorry, unplanned pregnancy does happen and so does life. Don't listen to the judgements on here. I have found this site to be judgement free and so appreciate it. For whatever reasons we have found ourselves here, here we are. Don't sweat it. Just get help while you still can. Congratulations on the babies.
