so here's my situation. i have a lot of medical bills, 100 bucks here, 200 bucks there... mostly because i've been without any kind of health insurance for almost a year now. i also have some debt with an apartment building who is trying to charge me rent for leaving early and a car that i think may be repossessed. (it's been in impound because it was stolen then recovered and i don't know what to do since i already bought a new car). i contacted a debt consolidation agency in my area, but they said they only deal with credit card (unsecured) debt so they can't help me. i have 4 payday loans currently: ameriloan $250.00, route 66 $200.00, payday select $100.00 and US fast cash $300.00.

i want to send each of the payday loan people a letter (except for payday select, their terms are reasonable) to cut off the excessive fees before they happen. i've already paid one fee to each of the payday companies, but i want the rest of my payments to go towards the principal amount of the loan. is this unreasonable? i get paid weekly, and route 66 wants $59 a week to keep my loan going, and another company wants $75 a week. i think this is ridiculous. also, i would like to consolidate my medical debt along with my car loan note and my apartment problem. the rest of my debt is almost $14K and i don't make enough money for this. is there any way to consolidate these debts? i've already filed bankruptcy once in my life, i don't want to have to try and do that again... please help...

Talk to a consultant regarding these debt accounts. I believe consolidation can be done on your unsecured debts only, not on the secured debts. Discuss your debt accounts and form your payment plans. Yes, it will sound good to talk with the lenders and arrange your payments with them. If they accept your proposal, you won't need to put it under the consolidation program. Most of the lenders are easy to work with, while some are hard in their dealings. But, you must give a try and know your options.

Do you have written agreement with the apartment owner? You can take the advice of the local apartment association in your area regarding this problem. If the association directs, send a notice to your landlord and exercise your rights to remedy the problem.

Welcome to the forums,
Probably in order to work out any kind of a payment arrangement with any of your payday loans you will first have to default. I was also up against it with pdls 8 months ago, and handled all of them on my own..I never used a consolidation company. I had 6 loans, and each of them told me that they would not stop automatic debits. period. So, the only way to get them to stop taking out fees is to close your account and open another, immediately. I have never seen another way around this. Once you do this, call them and tell them what you're doing...At this point you can make arrangements with them.
As far as paying them back...I know, the fees are outrageous, but as well as paying back the principle, you are obligated to pay maximum interest allowed by your state's law.
I'm glad you found this forum, it's a terrific place to be. Spend some time reading, you'll get some great advice here. Things will get easier quickly, I promise.

thanks everyone. i think a debt counselor tried to contact me this morning. i'm going to give him a call back. i'm still not sure what to do with the medical bills, though. i did tell the car company to come and repossess the vehicle, although i don't know if they did that or not. i'm going to contact the impound lot and see if i can find out if anyone took the car yet. i definitely do not want it, especially because it's been stolen. i didn't have theft insurance (i couldn't afford it - it is so expensive here in michigan to own and operate a vehicle) so they won't do anything for me. besides, the damage was minimal, definitely under any kind of deductible i would've had. so, i'm going to try and get to the bottom of this.

and i guess i'm going to have to close my bank account. i think i'm going to try stop-payments first, though, because i've only had this account for less than a year (10 months) and i want to at least establish some credit with my bank. rebuilding my credit since the bankruptcy has been hard, and my personal situation got turned upside down *after* i had filed, which is why i'm back in the debt situation again. *sigh* i want this to be over soon...

I agree with you..It is expensive to own and operate a vehicle in Michigan. It makes me sick what I pay for insurance..And i have never had a ticket or accident.
Putting stop payments will work, I did that at first..Just remember it's only temporary, and make sure it's set up by the ach code, not the amount. I know it's embarassing, but maybe you should talk to your bank about closing your account and immediately re-opening another. It's still at the same bank, so it'll still build credit.
