I did a search under "Loan Consolidation" and researched several companies - but nobody will list under the FAQ section anything about fees or fee structure. What could I expect regarding fees... fixed amount or sliding scale?

I think it varies from one company to another. Take the free counseling and discuss the fee structure with the consultant. I heard most of them charge a very nominal fee. It can be included in your monthly payments after you get started in the program. I will like to talk with the consultant before signing the contract.
