I took out a payday loan. I made 2 payments on it and this last one didn't go through. I got a call today from Ellis Crosby and they threatened to charge me with writing a bad check and bank fraud. They said they were having the charges drawn up at the end of today, that I would probably spend the weekend in jail. They said I owed $1000.00 (the loan was $300). If I didn't paytoday they were going to have me arrested. I only had $100.00 to send them - so I moneygramed it. I have a receipt. They are supposed to call me on Monday. What do I say to them? I've read posts that they have been suspended - what do I say to make them leave me alone? How can they charge me $1000? Do I have to pay all of that, or just what the payday loan was for? I'm trying to pay through a Consumer credit counseling agency. Thanks

Yes I filled out the affidavit she sent me and returned it to her. I was just wondering if Ellis Crobsy was also using the name GTO. I am trying to pay off 4 loans but am having trouble figuring out who to pay to. JD Marketing said they turned my account over to GTO.

Kathryn

Don't get confused with your debt accounts. You are required to pay them only who own your accounts. Ask for a debt validation letter from the collection agency that is contacting you for a particular debt. If they can provide the necessary details of your account, you can be assured that they are genuinely holding your debt and further make payment arrangements with them.

Do not talk to these people if they call you hang up, they are not really lawyers, they are just using scare tactics to get you to pay, andif you do your money might not go to your debtor, i have done alot of research and found alot of the same , the tactics they use are illegal and you can sue them for harrassment in most cases, they cannot call you at work if you tell them not to and they cannot talk to anyone else about your financals it is illegal, so feel better about this because i will tell you i was scared also and now i know my rights and they will get theres in the end. Have a good day.

Hello, I spoke with Summer Saladino yesterday to see how the court case is progressing (At one point, she had mentioned that I may be asked to provide a telephone deposition based on my affadavit). She said that the court case will resume in December, and at that time I may be asked to give a videotape deposition, since the court will not be allowing telephone depositions. But the big news is SUMMER IS LEAVING, her last day was yesterday. She told me that an attorney named JAMES YOUNG will be continuing her hard work, and will be in contact with us on the progressing court proceedings. And she also mentioned that despite all of their efforts, Ellis Crosby is STILL operating as if nothing is happening, which she finds just amazing. So, if they call you, be sure you know your rights, you cannot be arrested, they must validate in writing the debt they are attempting to collect, they must give you 30 days to respond. Blessings, Melissa

Hello, for some reason I was thinking about the status of Ellis Crosby and called their toll-free number 800-491-8615....it now rings to "United Carrier Networks, Buyers United," which with a quick internet search seems to have something to do with utilities, nothing at all with Ellis Crosby. Also tried their regular number and it was disconnected. Have they finally gone out of business?? Does anyone know the status??? Have they contacted anyone recently?? Blessings, Melissa

I received a call this morning (6:45am) from a man that barely spoke English asking me about Platinum B. I have just sent a debt validation letter to Accounts Receivable Tech about this account they signed for that on 10/31/05. So today when this man called I told him whatever he was going to ask I need to see this in writing I wanted this validated. He then put me on hold for about 5min and a man named Ernest Presley got on the line and said there was a mistake they were giving me a call to tell me I was going to be picked up today for check fraud and I should have my lawyer or family on standby to pick me up after I am arrested. The funny thing was the call came in from a (713) area code and when I asked Ernest where he was calling from he told me Wyoming. I then asked for his number and he said he could be reached @ (904) area code. I then asked the name of the company and he responded Quote: "Ellis" oh I mean Anthony something and associates I cant remember the full name he said but he made the mistake by saying Ellis in the begining. I think Ellis Crosby is at it again with another company name.
