Collection Agency
Hi Armando
Welcome to the forums
You should ask allied interstate to validate your debts. They must do it within five days starting from the day they first communicated with you. If after validation it is found that the debt is not a valid one you should immediately write them back within 30 days starting from the day you received a response from them. But if the debt is a valid one see who the legal owners of the debt are.
If the husband is the co-signer of debt then as a husband you are equally responsible to pay off the debt . Though there is a separation with your first wife still you will be held responsible to pay off the debt if you co-signed at the time of taking the loan.
If you did not co-signed the loans then you are not responsible to pay off the debt. Further check whether the SOL of the state or where you reside is over. If the SOL is over then the creditor or the collection agency cannot sue you. And furthermore it is a time barred debt. So please check all this option. Please do not stress yourself out.
Hope to hear from you soon
Regards
Peter
